buying a used car, need help!

    ok bros, found a 2003 G35 for $16,500 with 65,000 miles.

How much should I offer him? He is a private seller and I am paying Cash.

Should I offer him a little bit more then trade in value?

It also depends how buried this guy is. If the car is paid off, which I doubt, then low ball him with a cash offer.

Yea I had already checked kbb, its at $17,000. The reason I was going do use the trade in value was because he probably is selling it private so he would not have to settle for the shitty trade in value at the dealership.

I was planning on offering him $15000 cash, (and waving it in front of his face

And then have $500 in my pocket just in case. So I will not pay more then $15500, which is still $1000 less then his asking price.

    Sounds good??

sounds pretty good. It depends on how "set" he is on his price. If he was trading it in the only benefit to that would be that he gets the tax savings on the difference in price from trade in to new vehicle. so if his new car was 30grand & the trade was 16grand---he only pays tax on 14grand...thats the only benefit to trade ins. sounds like you got a good plan there good luck & hope u get it...is is coupe or 4 dr?

yea he most likely upped his price too, so hes thinking he will take 15. i would try 14500 then go up to 15 or walk
