Like in general the media bashes them, people always believe they shrink your penis... and seem to really hate steroids in general...

I think its envy personally...

Its hard for an average guy walking with his girlfriend to see a huge muscular guy walk by, expecially when his GF takes a long look...

of course to cover her ass she says "eww gross" and he immediatley says yeah hes on steroids, I bet his dick is shrunk down to nothing...

I have a good frind of 25 years, he says it bothers him to see buff guys, weather they are on juice or not... he says he knows he is lazy and likes to eat at wendys and no amount of steroids will ever help him look good,,, so it bothers him...

I am curious as I am writing a little article for a website ...

Steroids get a bad name for many reasons. Some are good reasons since there are uneducated people who abuse them, and some are from naivity.

People envision needles, children, tempers, acne, heart attacks, liver problems, cancer, tumors, tanned up and shaven bald-headed knuckleheads with g-strings on in auditoriums with shit-eating griins, shrunken genitals, and Lyle Alzedo. Are they right - most of the time.

Much of the press lately has actually been PRO-HRT (60 Minutes, Bob Costas HBO special on Test / Growth). I should revise that: the tone is more or less - many people who are healthy, successful normal people are using hormone replacement therapy for testosterone / GH replenishment for life extension and to enhance their "life experiences." There are many Dr's who still are extremely anti-GH/TEST therapy.

Remember, most people don't live in the culture we do. They don't go to the gym and research these materials. They only hear 3% and form an opinion. The information made available in publically acceptable media revolves around the negativity I outlined above. No one wants their children turning to drugs to gain an edge. To be honest, my employment commands this edge and 99% of us in our industry are using supplements to enhance performance. The year is long...it really is. I won't continue to use anything but small amt's of test and GH when I retire and wouldn't now. One thing I don't really understand is why some people take so many steroids when they don't need to.

And your points about girls...most girls don't care - at least the ones you would want. Sure, strippers and broads who think that BIGGER BICEPS EQUALS QUALITY GUYS or if you just need to tell yourself : I can bench 500 pounds OR your friends think it is cool because you have retard-strength - that is your choice. But believe me, I love GH and small amounts of test. The other stuff (including test/GH) will have long-term affects. Desires will change as life moves forward. Children, careers, etc. will become more important if you wish to move beyond mediocrity. That is the truth.

I dont know why they hate them, and I dont know why their so adamant about hating them. My mom is totally anti-steroid. Hates it. Cant change her mind, she wont listen, media and politicians say its bad, so its bad.

My dad on the other hand, understands and is willing to listen when talked to him about the benefits, risks, side effects, and why I do what I do. It may be because he's male, and like other men, would love to have the body of a arnold in the day or any number of celebrities/bodybuilders.

I drag my dad to the gym, 4x a week, he's diaetic and out of shape. Ive taken 30 pounts off of him in the last 3 months, and he's starting to enjoy the gy,. Pretty soon im going to mention HGH to him and the benefit running a low dose could have on his life. I want to see my old man live happy and healthy.

Most of the public is terrified of steroids, they have all these wierd beliefs that it turns you into a stark, raving lunatic who runs around beating up women and men smaller than them to prove themselves and make up for small balls and male pattern baldness. The media portrays that, and the people believe it. Couple that with all the ways they tell you it can kill you/destroy your body (they dont mention the extreme rarity of these cases), and there you are, firm anti-steroid activist..

I think most peoples anti-steroid view point comes from either:

Jealousy.

The idea that injecting yourself is dirty and seedy.

Media portrayal of "Roid Rage".

Cheating in competitive sports.

I think there are two answers one of which has to do with the general public and the other has to do with the 20% of the population who actually try to stay in shape.

The general public dislikes steroids becuase of what the media has turned them into. Since the governemt really cant profit off of them since there illegal to obtain OTC they bring out every negative about them.(Same deal with marijuana. For the old baseball fans they dont like how they tarnished the game which factors in more percent and the rest is what everybody else posted above me.

The other 20% of people who try to stay in shape dislike steroids becuase they feel they kick there asses 150% and still dont look or perform the way someone on gear looks when he has more room to slack than the dedicated natural lifter. I know when your on gear you still have to keep a very strict diet, but at the same token we have all seen or known people who do a cycle and there diet is maybe 50% clean and the results are unbelievable, im sure there are a few people on this board that can vouch for that.

I don't use steroids, but at the same time, I do not hate them nor do I hate the people that use them. What I do not care for is when people approach me and accuse me of using them. It happens a few times a week.

This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to work out at a public gym (I normally work out at home). There were 3 young 20 year old on-site trainers at this place and they ganged up on me. One of them asked me what I was taking. I said, "What do you mean?". One them said, "What are you taking to look the way you do?". I said, "Ohhhhh, I'm on this hardcore cycle right now." One of them then said, "Dude, tell us." So I said,

"Yeah, I'm taking this stuff called H2O and then stacking it with these hardcore vitamins. And to polish it all off, this clean dieting technique is working wonders."

I walked away from the gym that day with those 3 guys still assuming that I use roids.

I think the reason the general public "hate" steroids is out of sheer ignorance. The amount of people, SMART people that have said to me that steroids shrink your cock is unbelievable. It's the whole stigma that "injecting" is a huge taboo as well.
