  1. #1

    Question Anitbiotics for acne???

    How do antibiotics work??

Does it mess with your hormones??

Can I still build muscles while using antibiotics??

Do they work for clearing acne and blemishes??

I'm not sure, but I don't think it affects your good bacteria to a huge extent. The only sid effect I got was MAD sunburns!!! It sucked.

Another thing is, if its an oral antibiotic, it needs to be taken on an empty stomach to be effective. So you can't eat so many hours before and after for it to be effective. Shitty when your bulking!

Also, when you stop thaking this sh*t the acne seems to return the same. Personaly I wouldn't waste my time but then again it might work great for you.

hopefully you are not allergic to it, i broke out in hives after a month or so of taking bactrim, took a couple weeks to completly heal.

yeah you need to keep using it or acne comes back. bactrim and dicloxicillin aRE the best but doxy or mino will be good. i just use accutane works like a charm in the long term not short .

won't affect your weight lifting. Kills both good and bad bacteria, downside to killing good bacteria, makes you more prone to getting sick, noy very seriously though. Anti-biotics can clear acne up, might get a little worse for the first few weeks, but depending on the medicine, they can do wonders. Accutane for example works wonders for me. It's also a great anti-acne med. PM me if you have any more questions about it, I fought with acne for a long long time.

everything going fine but it's only been a week on the stuff. Noticed my face is dry and starting to peel from the evoclin foam and the tazorac cream that the doc also gave me. I have to go pick up some facial moisturizer.

make sure you pick up a face lotion that is "non-comedogenic"..i.e. won't clog pores. I reccomend "Cetaphil" or "Cerave"

You should eat at least one yogurt a day if you use the anti-biotic. Helps with the good bacteria. Also see if your doc can get you some Zoderm. Its a cream that worked wonders for me. You put it on about ten min. before you r shower. Do not touch any clothing to your skin while you have this cream on, it bleaches it out. Zoderm with my insurance costs me around 9 bucks.

You were probably allergic to the sulfa drug in bactrim. (sulfamethoxazole)
Sulfa drug is a very old drug used for many illnesses before penicillin was discovered. Alot of people can't take it.

You can drink yakult.. it has lactobacili that fights bad bacteria with the use of good bacteria. But do not drink too much though.

The "good bacteria" thing is more of a problem for women because it can lead to yeast infections...not so bad for guys. Most antibiotics won't make you sensitive to sunlight (at least not the acne kind)...try a topical first, and if that doesn't work, ask your doc about doxycycline, minocycline, or tetracycline. Those are the major 3 used for acne... accutane is an option if your acne is REALLY bad and/or cystic...but I'd avoid it if you can. It messes your body up...and who wants to take something that can kill an unborn baby?!? Can't be good for you!
