Is Michael jordan the all time best basketball player of all time?

I am preatty sure Micael Jordan is the all time best. There are too many wannabes out there like Carl Malone, and lets not get started with shack or dennis rodman. None of them could hope to follow in the masters footsteps.

Do bears poop in the woods???

Comparing Dennis Rodman to Michael Jordan is quite the oxymoron.

if i had a choice of drafting a young shaq or a young jordan, i would take shaq. yeah mike was the most dynamic, but shaq would have more impact in the win column. yeah, even more than mike. shaq is a dominant force on the court.

I think MJ is the best of all time, but you could put Wilt and Kareem up with him.

    MJ by Far

Guys will cover his stats if they already haven't but Shaq, while brilliant, is not aestetically pleaseing. I'm not saying MJ was hot but he was grace incarnate. Grace in sports is like symmetry in BBing. Shaq is Ronnie Coleman and MJ is The Governator in his prime, or Reeves, or Olivia. etc.....

Different players but add the grace and art together with the talent and MJ comes out on top.

i strongly disagree with you're statement. i'm almost 30 and i've been watching nba for well over 20 years and every bull's team that made the playoffs in the late 80's were because of mj and only mj. those teams were like micheal jordan and the 4 stooges and they still contended every year and if it were not for the celt's, lakers and pistons he might have won a championship in the 80's single handedly. there is no doubt mj is the best of all time. the question should be who is the second best? i say bird, magic or bill rusell.

MJ is the best and the greatest. he carried very weak bulls teams to 8 championships, whereas shaq needs good players around him to be effective. and let's face itr mike was much more charismatic than anyone beofre or since. his stupid clothing line is still the ghetto armani all these years after he retired.

MJ was great but how can someone be the "BEST" at something and not hold ANY records? 72-10 was a GREAT year for that Bulls "TEAM". Scottie Pippen is a DAMN good player and so was Dennis Rodman. MJ had some help just like every other GREAT player. Bird-McHale-Parrish/Magic-Worthy-Jabbar/Dumars-Thomas-Laimbeer/Shaq-Kobe/Shaq-Wade.

MJ was the best and yes he did have help. Pippen was a great player. All teams that win a Championship have more than 1 great player. They all had 2 or more players that were in the top 100 all time.

MJ far and away the best ever period!!!!

the nba IMO has been void of the team concept for many years now. just look at the last olympics. usa gets the bronze and you can't tell me the u.s. doesn't have better players but they don't know what TEAM means anymore. go back to the first "dream team" in '92 which with no doubt was the greatest b-ball team ever assembled or ever will be, great players that played as a team. what seperates guy's like mj or bird from all the other great players is that they made the players around them better.

i dunno, he ran shit a couple years after mj retired the first time, and that's after spending his best years playing second fiddle. but the two of them were really similar- mj would have impressed me less if his teams all one with an outstanding center or strong forward. it's incredible that a shooting guard-small forward 1-2 punch could dominate the league.

He didn't dominate until Bird and Magic were done or past their prime.

The only player that compares is Bill Russell. Russell won 2 high school championships, two college championships, a gold medal, and 11 nba titles. And 5 mvp's in his time. The best isn't alays the most dominant. So even though shaq and others are impressive, I don't think they really compare to MJ or Russell, those guys were winners.

Dude if were gonna go by records then maybe dennis rodman is the best player ever?? He holds the record for most different hair-dos in one season!! The point here is that records are so arbitrary, which ones mean more than others?? its all a matter of debate...He has 6 championship rings and a laundry list of other statistics to rattle off, but as I have already stated if we go by statistics then you could make an argument for too many people (Wilt chamberlain scored 100 points in a game once, maybe hes the best???) Point is if you watched MJ, you know he was a gift from God!

Any normal NBA team will beat an all-star team. Why? Because the normal team works as a team because they know each others game. If we put a normal team in the Olympics it would have been a blow-out.

I don't agree...Alot of the time talent will win if it's just that much better...

The Olympics proved you wrong. Basketball is a team sport.

Do you think they had better players than our all-star players? Of coarse not, they were a trained team and that made them win.

An all-star team is not really a team, they don’t know each others game like “second nature” and that is what you need in basketball to win, teamwork.

I don't think it's a legitimate question. Yes at his POSITION but you can't compare Shaq to him or vice versa to other positions. you could compare Shaq to say Olajuwon, Mutombo, the admiral and other and MJ to others in his position. It's like saying who's better Montana or Barry Sanders too differnent postions. Can't compare.
