    Smallest pin size?

I normally use 22 or 23 guage, 1 or 1.5 inch needles for all sites. I would like to get some 5/8 length needles for delts as I feel the 1 inches are a little too long (although again I have been useing the 1 inch into delts without problems so far). The only 5/8 length needles I can find are 25 guage. My question is: is 25 guage too small for oil based liquids (test, deca, etc.)? Or will 25 guage work, but just take longer to inject? Anyone use 25 guages?

I should point out that my first cycle I only had 1.5inch 18 guage harpoons, those were fun.

I'd stay with the 23g 1" pins...5/8" pins may put you at risk for an abcess...
I can not see why a 1" pin would be too long for the delts unless you simply don't have that much meat there.
As for the gauge pin..I've heard of some using 25g, but I prefer 23g for all oil-based injectables.

I've read a few threads where people are using 25's with apparently no problems. I was curious how many folks use 25s as well as the 5/8 length.

I"ve got decent sized delts, I"m 6'1, 220, but one inch seems to go in pretty far. Like I said, I haven't had any problems but I was thinking about ordering a few of the 25 5/8s to try out.

i use 1" 25g on my delts... i would not reccoment the 5/8 either for risk of infection... 25g means you push it in slower is all

There is a reason oil-based injectables or meant to be shot IM...bro, 5/8" is just not enough depth IMO.
If you really want to go with a thinner gauge pin, go ahead and try out the 25's, however, I advise you don't go with 5/8".

Is there any benefit to using a 25 guage instead of a 23? Its not like a 23 hurts or is hard to push in.

Guess I'll just stick with my old 23 guaged 1s unless there is some benefit from using 25s.

The only difference between 23g and 25g is how long it will take you to inject...as was already mentioned above.

Yeah they're thinner, but I can't feel the difference.

Good call. 5/8 would be risking it and not really worth the chance. Stay safe!

23g is fine i suppose, but i often prefer to shoot with 22g, 23g just takes waaay too long. i remember a while back the only size i had available was 18 gauge...it was interesting.

I see this point, and agree. If your bf% is in the single digits, 5/8" may not be so bad in some locations..however, I would keep the volume of the injection to 1cc or less.
I just wouldn't want to take any chances shooting 2 or 3cc's at that depth. Most my injections are usually 2cc's so 1 or 1.5" it is. 23g for oil-based and 25g for water-based. JMHO.

Any IM injection should be done with 1-1.5". if choosing between 23 and 25, go 23. You can get the injection over faster for you needle-phobic people. A 23 will only prolong the process. But if you were manly men, you would use an 18. :-)

My wife and I have long taken B-12 shots. And I will say that I don't mind 18ga. I have a pretty high tolerence for pain though. We typically use 20s though. Its a little less "harpoon" looking and is not as mentally hard to take.

When I give myself injections I use the quads. so much meat there its hard to go wrong. I would never use glutes nor let a "buddy" do glutes. Too easy to hit a nerver there. Stick/asperate/push.

And just because you have 1.5" of needle, doesnt mean you need to bury it. :-) Its an injection, not sex. ;-)

Seriously, I agree. I was just poking fun. It's funny to see guys with bi's that are like my calves (heck in some cases maybe my quads) say things like "someone scared of needles?" Then read other threads were the same or same type of guys are saying "OH NO, NOTHING BUT A 25 for me!" I mean, thats BEARLY larger than a sub-q insulin needle. . . .indiameter that is)

Now, you want to impress me, shoot with 14's. Now that's what I am talkin!!!

ACtually I would think you were psycho and avoid you because you would prolly rip my head off and use it as a bowling ball and laugh at me in the process.

Speaking of "harpoons"...anyone know what gauge that pencil is that they stick in your vein when you donate??...looks damn near like a 10g pin to me.
To my surprise I take it quite well...I sometimes get a kick at other donators that get all tightened, looking all frightful, and like they're about to pass out as they're about to get stuck...I sit there and look at it in amazement when they stick me...like wow, damn is that a stake you're jabbing into my arm, lol...phlebotomist asks me how I feel and I tell them a million bucks.

yup I use 25g for everything and I have made some 500mg per ml home brews that were a little thick too... just heat up the syringe under hot tap water while its full of what your about to shoot... it will make it pass thru a 25 like water...

i can do 23g ok too... but unfortunatley I am going to russia in 2 weeks to live and I have only found 22g 5ml syringes there... so I guess I will stick to compounds I can just shoot once a week...LOL

Usually they will use 18 or 20 when I have donated. (I hope you are refering to blood or plasma.)

I think IVs hurt more. Perhaps because the skin they are ripping through is a little more sensitive than my legs or arms I use for B-12.

I agree. I am just enjoying a little fun and speaking in jest.

I have actually only seen one IV given with a 14. When I was a medic, the smallest I would use is 20 an a average person. Always went for an 18.

Well I picked up this 15y/o who tried to OD on Tylenol. She fought me the whole way back. I was unable to get a line on her. When I got her to the ER, they retrained her and was trying to give her charcoal. Well she decided to spit it on the nurse.

"SO, that is how you want to play?"

Next thing I know, the nurse had a 14ga in each of the girls arms and a tube in her nose down into her stomach.

I never heard a girl scream like that before. HARPOONS OF FIERY DEATH IS RIGHT! I thought she was sticking her with 1/2 copper pipe.

So, the girl got the IVs, and the charcoal she didn't want with a bonus stomach pumping..

    Moral? Don't mess with nurses!

I've been using 25guage for test-c, and it works fine but hard as hell drawing and injecting. Gonna go to 23guage next time around...
