expired protein good or not?

So my supplier sent me a jug of expired protein. After I emailed him saying I was going to send it back for a refund he said keep it and I'll give you the refund anyways.

So my question is can I still drink this stuff? It expired September 2010 and it's a casein protein.

All those "expiration dates" are pretty much there for liability issues, and don't really reflect when the product is no more good.

There are some exceptions like for milk and what not but for supplements I would not worry about it.
