it is the intensity that you have to be concerned about not the ammount. ED is fine, in fact its great.
220 - age x .7 = will tell you what you need your HR to be while doing the cardio
Its recomended at least a day off a week or else you will not recover and maybe start losing muslce. Plus switch the types of cardio because your body adapts too quickly and you will stop improving if you dont keep making it more challenging.
I agree about the intensity being more inportant than the quantity.
When I do 800m x 4 sprints, I am dead. Legs throbbing, spitting up green lougies, etc. But if I do a slow 3 mile run in 25 minutes, I feel fine afterward.
Personally, I like 30 minutes x 2 to 3 times per week at target heart rate as being good enough to help your heart while not catabolizing muscle.
