Natural Bodybuilding is a lot like the special Olympics, it's entertaining to watch, but you wouldn't wanna be up there doing it
Ha ha I am looking for quotes and information for my research paper for Comp II on bodybuilding, and I need atleast 12 sources so I was looking around and came across this guy. It made me laugh and I figured you guys would get alittle stirred up about it. I found like 20 other steroids are bad for you pages on other sites too but i dont wanna take the time to post them I gotta get this done.
Whats funny is that he list himself as an exercise physiologist. But just about all of us Ex Phys have done steroids at one time or another. We just cant talk about it openly as you can imagine.
I want to know how many people have kept absolutely no gains from a cycle??? Also he know's people that have died from steroids, so that means it must be a fact that steroids can be the cause of death. Ok, now what about if you follow exactly every possible way to train and live the natural bodybuilding lifestyle, and then add steroids. I hate it when people only make examples out of people that dont know how to use them properly. Take a natural bodybuilder and give him steroids he will never go back to the otherside.

It's good to have a laugh every now and then. However, I do respect natural BBing.

natural BBing is fine, its that article thats crap!! Reads like it was written by a 10 year old.
I have a friend that is Natty its cool. To each his own. I just thought you guys would get a kick out of the article.
We have to for several reasons.Originally Posted by dhriscerr
1. we cant be seen by our fellow professionals as pro-steroid or we lose business because one would say. Yeah his athletes do well but they are all on juice. Which they are anyway wether we tell them to or not to juice.
2. You dont want to be know as Mr. Juice cause you will have every highschool kid or weekend warrior coming to you asking for juice.
3. You dont want the federal goverment to get a warrent and steal your computers and files. They keep them most likely and never reemburse you for the lose.
For these reasons every exercise physiologist that has a brain and wants to keep a good client base will talk smack on steroids and say they dont work and bla bla bla. You get the point, even if the guy has been on gear for years and knows how it can safely be administered. Hypocritical yes, but covering your ass is the name of the game my friends
Why not just say nothing though? Do you talk shit about it to other people? There are 100's of doctors that say steroids arent bad for you, if taken right
I'm natural right now, does that count?
Oh and I've held and made more gains for 4months now and steadily get stronger each week.
I respect natural BB'ing but not the one's who frown upon users, everyone should worry about themselves and not be so judgmental.
We dont outright make it a point to talk shit unless specifically asked. I would'nt say to someone man I hate steroids they are bad and will make your jimmy smaller. But if a client or another EX PHYS that I dont know very well starts asking questions or comes up in conversation I have to give the standard answer, Oh you dont want to do steroids they will make you have titties and your hair will fall out, plus you lose everything when your off them. I do have to add that in our profession there are some genetic freaks of nature that have never used roids and are huge, and strong. And many times they are the ones that are most outspoken about how bad they are. The problem with my profession to is that anyone with a health science degree and some lab time can call themselfs and exercise physiologist. Mostly however you only want someone with an upper level degree. Because those freaks of nature that talk about how then never used them and bench 500 lbs. Dont have the intellegence to make the leap that they are not represenative of the population as a whole.Originally Posted by dhriscerr
I see, I am going to college for buisness but I really want to do something in the exercise field, eithere a strenght coach, or a personal trainer, or anything like that. But that means picking up my family and moving somewhere else and we just bought a house, so I guess im stuck for now. What exactly does a exercise physiologist do, and what do you have to do to get the title???
there is a guy named Rodney Helaire who runs the gym I go to in Savannah, he is supposedly one of the top nbb's he is fricking huge!!!!
don't know if I believe it or not.
does anyone here really get addicted? do you get a good feeling when your on and not when your off?
i think its more of an emotional addiction than anything, and i really dont feel any different, i might be stronger the next day and bigger, but i dont feel anything, he kinda comes accross like steroids are a mind altering agent.
and when i come off a cycle after pct, i feel the same, just not as strong.
only a true user will know this though
and to compete in natural bodybuilding, dont you only have to be clean for the previous year? i thought i read that somewhere.
Well its a broad term for basically someone how studies how the body adapts in response to exercise. There are many sub-catagories of the profession. For example a CSCS certified strength coach could be considered an exercise physiologist but a personal trainer wouldnt be because of the level of the certification. But some exericse physiologist are called clinical exercise physiologist because they deal with medical issues such as running stress test on heart failure patients. The field is so broad there is no one route to take. Me for example I deal with anaerobic metabolism. For me thats the last great frontier in the field. It hasnt been studied as far as training technics like weight training has in the past. Nobody outside of the field understands it very well. And even fewer in the field are experts. Just to let you know what it takes to be in the profession I will give you the route I took. I got my undergrad degree in Human Biology/biological sciences. I worked in a molecular biology lab for three years were I ended up working with anaerobic micro-organisms. I studied how these organisms produced energy, lived, spread ect. We tried all types of substances for them to grow faster and produce more energy while growing. After I graduate i then started my graduate studies in exercise physiology. There are two ways at this point, The first is you can go for your doctorate. What you do with your doctorate commonly is go back to university and become a researcher. Some do go into private practice but its a complete waste to do a four year research thesis if your not going to be a researcher later on. The second is to get your masters degree, which nearly all go into private practice or hospital work. this is usually were the greater amount of money is made. I chose the later because when you do research in university you actually never do lab work yourself thats what your grad students are for. Your job is to write grant proposals and get research dollars into the university. Now that you understand that the next step is to get some sort of certification. The most typical type is the CSCS (certified strength and conditioning specialist) which is directed by NSCA. The reason this is so common is that it doesnt require one to have any lab hours just a degree in a related field and a huge test to take. The other certification is by ACSM called CEP which stand for certified exercise physiologist. This one is less common and requires at least a masters degree in the field and 600 hrs of lab. This one is usually attained by those who work in hospitals and run stress test on heart failure patients. And a lot of hospitals require there exercise phyiologist to achieve this status. I could go on and on with this but I think you get the general ideaOriginally Posted by dhriscerr
^^^^^^ To much work for me man, If I was single id love it. But I think ill just look into personal training with one of my friends, 3 of them do it one in Denver, one in kansas, one in huntington beach, CA

No such thing as competative Natural Bodybuilding, I did it for a few years and 95% of the guys were on GH and/or steroids. Nothing worse than a loser who uses drugs in a natural show.
That article is painful to read. Sounds like a retarded 3rd grader wrote it... if your going to try to make a point at least write it correctly. After about one paragraph it lost all credibility.

Yeah I did it for awhile while going through my undergraduate degree. I got pretty burned out on it cause 99% of my clients were rich wha baby suburbanites that complained and bitched constantly. I even had one lady who her and her husband would drink a 30 pack of beer every night and bitched me out cause I couldnt get her to drop weight. I even suggested just drinking half of what she normally drank a night, after giving up on trying to get her to stop during the week and im seriously not shitting you at all. My god can you imagine drinking like that everyday. LOLOriginally Posted by dhriscerr
