How do you know its your kidneys...Ive been actually having some pain in my lower back on the left side since last week and its not going away so i just scheduled a doc appointment to get it checked bec. its driving me crazy. At first i thought i pulled something in my back, but na. I would say to drink lots of cran. juice and water (8-10 liters a day) That should clean them out. If not go to the doc....the sooner the better.

I think most would recommend you to drink lots of water (which I see you are doing) and take a cranberry supp as well. Is it definately your kidneys that are aching, or just a lower back pump? I get those quite frequently after even very mild events, even standing doing the dishes for 20 minutes! Only thing to do is up the water even more, keep an eye on it and if it doesnt go away, go to the doc's and get a urea and electrolyte screen done

To bad kidneys don't have pain receptors, and you cant feel pain with them.
most likely liver dude. If you do have pain in kidney area its on the back read up on kidney pain online.

Where in the lower back is the pain located?

If the pain in your lower back in coming from the right side there is a possibility that it may be related to your liver, if the pain is coming from the center of your lower back there is a possibility that it may be kidney related but I would have to agree with Bigmax... most likely backpumps. But if the pain is more centralized in the lower left side it is possible that you may have a spleen issue going on... especially if the pain seems to worsen after a large meal. Hope that helps some... if you are really concerned its best to see a doc. I am not one nor try to be, just passing on some knowledge.

    Good to hear.
But remember hydration is more than water, increase your electrolytes (tabs and/or drinks) especially when water intake is greatly increased because water washes them out. Any questions, look up “Water Intoxication”. Also, L-Taurine is invaluable because rather than just adding one or more electrolytes, it governs fluid levels.

Oh and for the record it is quite possible to have pain in your kidneys, along with the heart, stomach, intestines, and many other internal organs. Nerves and nerve networks permeate the body, receptors are not the only pain sensors.

the fact that ur urine is clear doesnt mean u dont have kidney problems.. Also the kidney doesnt "feel pain" but its capsule can and so u can feel pain when there is kidney troubles (sometimes).

but I agree with others, its most likely not the kidneys but if u are worried see a doc.. or u already did?

A 31yr old guy in our mailroom went to ER because he was blacking out from excruciating lower back pain. The pics showed lesions at the bottom of his kidneys. It should be noted that he never drinks water. He guzzles coffee, two Arizona teas daily, pop and juices, his desk is filled with assorted chips and candy abounds.

He was admitted for two days given an IV, Boost and plenty water, and told to drink water and electrolytes. Just over three months later after he’s in the washroom dry heaving and its back to the hospital, another 4mths and he's down again. Since some habits won't be broken, I told him to just check himself in for an oil change every 3mths or 3K miles.

The point is his kidney pain was very real.
