They are great for measuring your weight but are horrible for measuring bodyfat.
Go spend 50$ and get a great scale for measuring weight only. Go to a local gym to get your bodyfat checked by a competent Personal Trainer (good luck finding one of those LOL).

I B D.. got any suggestions for finding a good scale that measures your body fat? appreciate the help.
To do it on you own would be near impossible to get an accurate reading. Calipers would be the best instrament, but you need somebody who is competent in using them to do it correctly.
The digital ones or hand held ones are garbage IMO.
I wouldnt waste your money. Have either a qualified trainer or medical professional do it if it is a big issue.

Ditto, no scale on the market is good or accurate at measuring bodyfat.
You could use a tape measure for convenience but it's also not so accurate but will atleast tell you if you're losing inches on certain parts of your body.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input! I'll look for a measuring tape for now..
To be honest with you. I think tapes, scales, calipers etc.. are all garbage. Not unless you have some bet going on with somebody I would just rate yourself by how your clothes are fitting and how you look in the mirror.
When cutting I just go by how I feel and look in the mirror. I can always tell if I am doing something wrong or right. If I dont see changes in my personal appearance then I know I need to tweak something here or there.

Yes but when dieting sometimes the mirror can be deceiving and play tricks on your mind especially if you're looking at yourself constantly and not very well trained on what to look for. It's good to have a honest friend around who will give you feedback on a weekly basis, keep your diet consistent and pay attention to your strength in the gym while your weight continues to drop.
This is a hard one to explain, I'd suggest finding a good dietitian or personal trainer to work with until you feel comfortable enough to do it alone.
