I remember when I was a kid, lots of male actors were portrayed tough and epitomized classical male attributes (ie. Don't talk or whine too much just get the job done). For example Arnold, Stallone, Eastwood or even Harrison Ford. Even Mel Gibson was okay before he stated the whole anti-sematic thing. I admired the fact he put his own money into The Passion and Apocalypto and did it his way.
Look at today's biggest paid actors: 1) Tom Cruise goes around verbally attacking other women's medication choices. A real man would mind his own business. 2) Brad Pitt is pussy whipped and following Angelina around the world like a love sick teenage boy.
Ben Affleck was pussy whipped by J Lo. and cries in half his movies.
The Rock and Vin Diesel seemed to be the new Schwarzenegger and Stallone. But I don't think either could write an academy winning movie Like Rocky or do what Schwarzenegger did. ( Dominate 3 different professions Bodybuilding, Movie Biz, Politics and he also good with his money since he invest his earnnings in real estate and is worth close to a billion)
For a while Russell Crowe seemed to be promising but then he has diva like temper tantrums. He should save the phone throwing antics for boy bands who want to prove how hard core they are and he should act like a real man.
Some of the new guys may be phyically buff but i don't think they are mentally tough, ie Brad Pitt.
I realized this when I was about to watch The Departed. From what I heard it's a gangster movie with Marky Mark, and Leonardo Dicaprio LOL. Although Jack Nickleson is a good choice but where are the young Robert De Niros, Joe Pecis, Al Pacinos.
Don't get me stated on heros who wear their underwear on the outside or Pirates with mascara. Who's young boy supposed to look up to?
That's my rant, time for bed.
