    I hate car dealers!

I found a beautiful 2004 Sonic Blue Ford Lightning for sale. It was at a dealership, they only wanted 22,900 for it, which was pretty good. The interior was in great condition and so was the exterior. So I told the salesman I wanted to put a down payment on it, and he said how much. I asked how much it would take to hold the truck, and he said $500. So I did that, I needed to come back with my trade in before I could buy the truck. So today I am all amped and excited to get my truck. I call them to tell them I am on my way, and the salesman says he is sorry but they sold the truck! I said "What the fvck was the down payment for!!!" He said that was to hold the price. I said, "That is not what you fvcking told me!" So I talked to the manager and chewed his ass for 10 min, and he apologized, he said his salesman lied to me because he wanted to close the deal, and told me what he thought would help. I can't stand those lying mother fvckers. Makes me wanna go down there and torch their whole fvcking inventory!

Yeah, but in this case what can they do. The truck was gone. I just don't like being jerked around. He told me that I would have had to put more money down to actually hold the truck. I said "If your salesman would have told me that I would have done that." That is the problem with these fvcks, it they don't care. I can count on one hand the dealerships that actually care and wouldn't do something like that. There is one dealership that I like and trust, but they never have the cars I want, it is always the jerk offs.

The problem is I didn't sign anything, just the credit card receipt, so I don't know what, if any legal issues stand with that.

Not yet, first they said I would have to come down there. I told them to go fvck themselves, because it takes an hour to get to that dealership from where I am at. So they said I could do it over the phone, but would have to wait till Monday.

Does anyone know? I did not sign any paper work completing the deal, but I put a $500 deposit on the truck, doesn't that count as a bill of sale? I am starting to think about legal action now, but wonder if it is even worth it. I don't know if what they did was just grey area illegal, which could be argued, or if it was blatantly illegal.

I bought my Cobra the exact same way. I called them over the phone, because the car was in Illinois, and I was in North Carolina. I gave them my credit card number, and placed a $500 deposit on the car. The held the car for almost 2 weeks, then I drove down and picked it up. The car was also listed on Ebay, and the deposit took the car off Ebay. So WTF!!!!

I use to sell trucks. We use to take down payments on them all the time. I've seen this happen many times. At our dealership, the downpayment ment NOTHING. They would still get sold all the time and people would get pissed, just like what happened to you. I remember asking the boss about this before and he said something like, "bottom line is the truck is not sold until the papers are signed." I live in Ohio and I dont know about your state laws. I've never seen or heard of any legal action taken place around here for that.

Its sad that car dealerships are such idiots. I've often wondered if you opened a dealership and actually cared about what happened, could you make more money than the others? I dunno......

On another note, the salesman was probably doing what the boss told him to do. It probably wasnt his fault. I know at our dealership, as a salesman, you were just a robot doing what they wanted you too. If you didnt do it their way, they fired you. sorry man.....
    goodluck in the future.

legal = to much money and not the right way to go. be civil speak to the owner of the dealership tell him the situation and see where it goes. ask him if he'd be willing to help you find a very similar deal because you were 100% set on making the purchase etc.....threats dont get you anywhere man especially not with a big company. the dealership i worked at would laugh at someone if they threatened to sue them over that....but like i said it was a HUGE dealership lol they could laugh at whoever they wanted

Well, just out of curiosity I sought some legal advice about the matter. And in this state what they did was indeed illegal. Even though no documents were signed, a legal transaction took place. I could file a lawsuit on Monday and place a stop on the registration of the vehicle, and get the truck back. But the downside of it is, I would need to get a lawyer, the dealership is in another county, so I would have to go to court in another county, and the whole process would be time consuming and expensive. So in the end it probably would not be worth it.

True, but if you just file a complaint on that dealershop to BBB, you may not be the first one that has done that, and it may be enough to get them in shit. 2, As a prior salesman, Im willing to bet that he did not sell the truck, but another salesman did, and hes just as pissed as you, for he lost his commision over it, so dont get too upset with him, I have dealt with this before.

That is a good idea, I think I will file a complaint with the BBB. At least someone might see that and think twice about dealing with them.

I did, and it did. You could have heard a pin drop. I realize that I could very well get the truck back if I went to court, but I think it will be costly and time consuming. So I will just get my deposit back and have him throw in $50 to cover my gas expenses. Unless the scare tactic worked and he gets the truck back some how.

I just got done filing a complaint with the BBB. Those fvckers have had 17 complaints filed over the last 3 years! That is a lot IMO, especially for a small dealership.

What amazes me about car salesmen is how they attempt to build EVERYTHING around a monthly payment.

"Oh sure Mr. Customer, we can get you into that car for exactly what you're wanting your monthly payment to be."

The way I see it is, the monthly payment doesn't mean squat until you know the final purchase price. Sure, you can pay your $250.00 a month (or whatever) for this Hummer, but you're going to be paying for it until you're 123 years old!

    Incredible.
