    Sodium Intake

Hi guys, it's me again... I know i probably sound like a noob, but here goes. I've been dieting right and lifting heavily for about 2 years now, but have always wondered but never really find any answers when i search the topic. When doinga clean bulk, how much sodium is ok before bloating/water retension becomes a major issue? I noticed sodium is always in mg's... so how much do you guys think is an ok median?

Flame suit on, sorry pros... i know i'm no diet expert.

I think thats a perfectly valid question Natural. One thing to keep in mind is to keep a balance of potassium...For every mg of sodium, take in a mg of pottasium...Also drinking a lot of water will flush out extra sodium and keep you in a healthy water balance...

Other than that, all i can say is keep it to a minimum...

So as long as I drink lots of water/fluids every day it will flush the extra sodium? No matter how much of it I take in?
    Thanks

thanks for the answers guys.... sounds like banannas are going to be my friend! I try and keep it to a low, because i model and have to keep my face fat free and bloat free (which is why i stay natural), and very slim.... i just really hate checking sodium constantly and not knowing how much is bad...

No...Sodium intake should still be kept to a minimum, but drinking lots of water and keeping a balance of potassium will keep bloat to a minimum. Bananas or potassium caps are a great way to get the extra pottasium...I take the twinlab caps 100mgs, 3 or 4 with every high sodium meal and drink about a gallon of water per day...carbs are also very important in terms of bloat, in fact i would say the amount and quality of carbs will have more influence on bloating than sodium...Remember 1g of carbs carries 3gs of water into the body, that means muscle, but also fat and skin cells...

The key is to take in just enough good carbohydrates to keep the muscles loaded with glycogen(carbs) but not enough to "spill over" into skin and fat cells. There are equasions in the lean mass sticky i believe.

on the label it tells you a daily recommend amount %. if you were using some soy sauce and 1tbsp was 40% of your RDA, then 3tbsp would be too much.
so just go by the %'s.

With enough water, your typical 2 gallons a day, mild-moderate sodium intake shouldn't be a problem.

Of course, avoid it if you can help it, and you should be fine.
