    Unhappy new injury...new workout?

it has been a month and a half since pec tore, starting at the bicep. very frustrating to workout and not feel as though your not having a real chest workout. i was wondering from anyone who has suffered the same injury any other excercises outside of pec machines and bench press to feel as though your actually training chest, with of course the limited weight..
    thanx..

I can speak on behalf of elective surgery....it's not a bad idea. With todays surgens and knowledge they are able to put you back together the way you were. I hade elective surgery on my clavicle a few weeks ago and the doc expects me to be 100%....it just takes time. I was told I would be able to hit the gym for 12 weeks, I am back at it lightly after only five. Take teh surgens advice, they know more than we do. The first few weeks suck but in teh long run I am so happy i did it and didn't let it just heal. Just my 2 cents on the surgery. Good luck bro!

how is your functional movement with presses? is it improving? do you think you can obtain full functional strength over time without the surgery? did the ortho have any comments on this?

also on a side not, i injured my rotator cuff years ago. severe, i missed the rack when doing military presses and hyper extended my shoulder, it hut so bad i couldnt underneath a bar to squat, the pain was that bad. also couldnt press 135 lbs, or shift my car into gear using that arm. i did some light rehab avoided exercises that made it worse and i am currently today much stronger than i was back than. took me close to a year before i was 100%. it all depends on how severe the tear is. do you know the grade of the tear? usualy goes form a range of 1 - 5. i assume they did an mri, and if so, do you have the report?

not clear on the grade of the tear, but lets just say any pressing movements feels as though i have been stabbed in the armpit...and i also bleed for a few days starting at the tip of the bicep...i've stopped taking my daily asa to help control the bleeding...yes i admit i'm a dumbass. i think my range of motion is great...just the amount of pressure i'm allowed..yesterday i jumped in the pool feet first and the pain from the pressure of the splash on my hands almost knocked me out.it's funny today i was reading how pushups are really underated and i loved to do them..so i wanted to test my progress....lets just say i was glad i could hold my body up, but when i lowered...that knife started to dig and said ok..i learned my lesson and stopped...is it possible to still have the reconstructive sugery after a period of time, or is there a limit of no return.
