Coconut oil heats up pretty thin and can heat up to high when cooking and burn food. I've never personally used it in cooking, i've just heard some negative things about it's cooking properties, not to say I wouldn't try it however.
It also coagulates when cooled down so it's not really ideal in cold recipies either. I personally just like to stick with olive oil, it's a good all purposed oil.
