stupid me?

During my break at work i decided to use the computer and look at various online places that sell AS. I stumbled upon a site that looked like it had alot of good stuff and at decent prices. I did not intend to buy anything but at the end i ended up ordering a couple hundred dollars woth of AS. Now my intent at the beginning was not to order but to look around then do research on the various sources when i get the time. But here is the part that i THINK i may have fu$$ed up! the computer that i used is a GOVERNMENT COMPUTER! no i am not an LE, but still isnt the shit i did going to get me fired! after all dont they watch this shit!

wow man, that's just crazy. I couldn't imagine, I work for the govt and I won't even check my personal email from work.

they CAN check and watch everything you do on the computer but they frequently don't unless they have some reason to check. I work with/for lots of DoD and military and Gov't programs and I know tons of people who use the computers at work for plenty of stuff that could get them fired IF they were watched but they'r estill there and have been for years... Just my experience.

You'll be fine. They can't tell you actually ordered anything off the site. I wouldn't recommend doing it again, but you won't get caught.

I work for the govt. and have viewed sights that are not necessarily the most appropriate for the work enviroment "sorry not porn", although some things viewed have gotten me very nervous have never caused me to do things such as illicit the sale of a controlled substance. I've talked to one of the computer techs at work and he stated that there is a centralized system that moniters what the computer is viewing, an alert is risen when the system detects certain sites or when a person starts to type certain words such as "sex,fu##,bj, and so forth" the computer discerns whether or not a person or persons is doing anyhting inappropriate.
i aint sure if thats just B.S. to scare me but it sure worked!

yea that seems pretty stupid to me.... not only looking at the sites was stupid, but going beyond that and ordering is beyond stupid!!

I dont think viewing the site as being bad, but i do realize that what i did was wrong and very,very stupid. but do you think that with that one instance of temptation i could possibly get caught! I keep getting called stupid and all but that doesnt reasure me at all.

There is no way for us to know, but I assure you if you worked where I do you would be caught and reported. One division of our i.t. department does nothing but monitor people's internet activity.

When I worked for the state of AZ they claimed, during orientation, that they'd be watching. As I often have lots of time on my hands at work, I explored numerous sites (shopped, e-mailed, gamed, etc.) that were definitely not job related w/o incidence. But agencies vary and it’s better to be cautious until you know the real truth.

Also, be sure to erase your temporary internet files and computer history just in case your computer it's ever seized and scanned. This should be done as often as necessary, for me it was daily.
