Shap pain in leg

I have been getting a shap pain in my left leg near my knee. At first i thought it was just a cramp, and may still be, but now I am wondering if it is a nerve. It is a quick, sharp pain that goes away in seconds. Feels like someone hit me with voltage and it is only in a spot that is about a quarter size. There is no real ryhme or reason behind it. It has been happening for about 2 weeks now but it is starting to happen more often and the pain is worse now then when it first happened. Any ideas, thanks?

I have gotten that also in the past. Usaly from over streaching. get it massaged alot or do it your self and try not to over exert the leg. No running or uphill cardio. Mine went away and now I always streach before workouts. Never came back
