Ginko Biloba is supposed to help by increasing oxygen to the brain I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... I used to take it quite a bit with a good multivitamin when I was in college and I thought it helped. Ritalin seems a little sever unless you have full blown ADD.

I'm finishing my 4th year (5th if you count summer semesters i attended) and still have another full year to go... for a 4 year degree. I've always had the intelligence, i just can't sit down for long periods of time to study and work on long projects.

I have been doing some reading on Adderall, and asked him about it. He refused to prescribe it and referred to it as "prescription crack" because its "dangerous and addicting". Instead, he prescribed Concerta, which from my understanding is basically time released ritalin.

Do you guys think this is necessary? I wouldn't go as far as to say that I have ADD/ADHD, i just can't concentrate on school work. I wanted Adderall for its focus benefits, but got this instead.

I didn't want to ask the doctor this, so I am asking here... are there any alternatives that could help me focus/concentrate better without resorting to ritalin? I'm talking about things that I could get through a research site, such as Selegiline or something like that.

Any help or opinions would be appreciated! Thanks
concerta is just a brand name for ritalin which is usually only perscribed for people(mostly children) with add. nobody on this board is qualified to give you advice on taking you meds so i would just do what you dr told you to do.
