Talking just had 2nd hernia surgery...help

Last week I began having abdominal pain, within a few days I started noticing my belly button bulging and when I touched it it hurt and felt liquid like. I went to my PA who in turn gave me some pain meds and suggested a surgery consult and an ER visit if the pain got worse. By the time I got home the pain was much worse and my wife refused to let me wait it out til my surgery consult so we went to the ER. Within 12 hours I was having emergency surgery for an incarcerated hernia. I am home now two days later with 11 staples in my stomach and a month of bed rest. This is my second hernia, first one was so big you could fit 4 fingers up inside my stomach. It took forever to recover from. Now I am scared of the recovery for this one. My wife would like me to stop lifting now that I have my second hernia surgery, I want to just take it light for a while, I dont know what to do. Advice please. Especially if anyone here has had one or more hernia surgeries. Thanks

I've had 2 hernia surgeries. One 2yrs ago, one last Oct. I took 2mo. off and just started to take it easy back at the gym. Now is the time to really listen to your body and know what you exercises you can do, and ones to avoid.

Brother, I just had my first. I noticed an uncomfortable but fairly painless squishyness above my pubic bone. Sure enough I had ingoinal hernia. From the time I saw the doc to the surgery was about 1 month. I'm on week 3 of recovery and I just went for my first 15min lite jog. I'm going to concentrate on lite cardio for now and the doc said I get back into moderate weight traing in about 6 weeks. My hernia sounds like it was a lot less severe then yours. I would wait out the 2-3 months, keep a clean diet, then ease on back into it. Its only natural for your wife to want you to stop lifting but for me that wouldn't be an option. Good luck and remember...Patience, if your anything like me you'll want a full recovery yesterday but with 2 under your belt already take it slowwwww.
