    shin splints

what causes them and what can u really do, i've had shin splints since i can remmenber so it isnt gear. running isnt too bad, but speed walking or hikeing with a pack and its the worst pain.
i was always told to just run more and stuff like that, even went to docs never a straight answer.

im not 100% sure but i believe its where your muscle sepperates from your shin bone. i believe its caused by a lot of physical stress such as running flat footed. maybe someone who knows more can help. but i do know that running doesnt help heal. you need to use warm wraps and ice packs. i used to get them all the time playing football and thats what my trainer had me do and it worked pretty good for me.

well the lumps are calcium deposits that built up when you where younger from hitting your shin a lot. most ppl have those lumps. but when you run try running more on your toes as much as possiable. see if that stops them from reacurring as often.

the lumps are not hrd, but but accually softer than the rest of the muscle, kinda like a bubble

I gotm cause im flat footed as u can get and we ran 2-3times every fvckn day. once i got2AIT we only ran at most15miles a week5miles 3xper week so my shins got much better. But when we were out at course(training4our military jobs) my class would speed walk2chow. N OMG speed walking was so much worse the running 2-3x a day. dont really know why. I had2do a few strches a few times a day and it helped a lot, n i was eating 800mg ibis like candy.

Well in that case, are there any AAS compounds that you are running currently or have ran recently? I wouldnt see how they could effect shin splints but I do know running more will help.

Speed walking? Im afraid to ask what MOS you were......

Speed walking uses a whole lot more calve muscles and lots of ankle movement so I could see where your shins hurt more. For me it was rest and running more which was weird. BTW, I was 11B, army.

Do you have shin spints or weak shin muscles. BIG difference. Sit on the floor with your legs straight out in front of you. Pull your toes/feet towards your body lifting your heels off the floor and repeat about 30-40 times. If this causes the same pain you feel when running or walking fast then its muscular and you can work it out. Do this exercise a few times a day 4-5 sets 50 reps and you will be fine in a few weeks. If it's shin splints you are in for a more serious recovery. Sprints, yep sprints cures shin splints over time. It strengthens the shin bones. Good luck!

Shin splints is where the muscle becomes really tight and eventually starts to pull off the bone forming little bubbles. If you don't get these rubbed out, they will start to calcify. Once they calcify they are much harder to get rid of.

Making sure you stretch both calf muscles is a good way to prevent them.

I used to get really bad shin splints when i played ball. What helped me was heel inserts in my shoes and cleats. Also, Similar to what was said above, every calve workout i do, I also do 4-6 sets for my shins. Instead of sitting on the floor and doing those "toe curls" you can also do them on a machine with weights. Find a lay down leg curl machine. Sit on it facing backwards with your legs straight and your top of your feet underneath the curl pad. Now just try to curl your toes back toward you. Do 15-10 reps each set. light weight. And you should have a good burn after each set. This is more of a preventative for shin splints though. Hope that helps
