191aa rHGH may cause cause Antibodies

    This is direct from www.drugs.com

It is intended for medical professionals as a guideline. According to the article below in reference to 191aa Nutropin manufactured in the USA by Genetech, "As with all protein pharmaceuticals, a small number of patients may develop antibodies to the protein." It also mentions injection site rash from benzyl alcohol sensitive individuals.

    [quote]For the professional

    Nutropin AQ

As with all protein pharmaceuticals, a small percentage of patients may develop antibodies to the protein. GH antibody binding capacities below 2 mg/L have not been associated with growth attenuation. In some cases when binding capacity exceeds 2 mg/L, growth attenuation has been observed.

    Growth Hormone-Deficient Pediatric Patients

As with all protein pharmaceuticals, a small percentage of patients may develop antibodies to the protein. During the first 6 months of Humatrope therapy in 314 naive patients, only 1.6% developed specific antibodies to Humatrope (binding capacity ≥0.02 mg/L).

    And another for Tev-Tropin

    http://www.**list.com/cgi/generic/tev-tropin_ad.htm

Utilizing a double-antibody immunoassay, no antibodies to growth hormone could be detected in a group of 164 naïve and previously treated clinical trial patients after treatment with TEV-TROPINÃ? for up to 40 months. However, utilizing the less specific polyethelene glycol (PEG)precipitation immunoassay,27 of the 164 patient group were tested after treatment with TEV-TROPINÃ? for 4 to 6 months and antibodies to growth hormone were detected in two patients (7.4%)

This is old news, but a good post to have up. It's something most people only think is related to 192aa.
