Becoming a Pharmacist and using AAS?

    Hey guys,
I was wondering if any of you all know about how that works. Do pharmacists get drug tested (tested for steroids)?
And even if you were a bodybuilder and a pharmacist wouldn't they suspect you're using just cause your big?

    Input would be great

I doubt they get test for steroids unless its really evident by the employer. Rec drugs maby, because they dont want someone messing with drugs who is a user.

I got a friend that just got his pharm d last spring, he is interning at wall greens waiting his state license (theres a hour limit) and he says its an absoulute waste to try to jack anything from the pharmacy. The money is soo good it makes no sense to jeopardize 8 years of hard work and that income for some gear you can just go pick up on your next vacation to Europe since you can afford it now. Kind of ***** but i guess its all about prospective..

you do realize that you can't just take meds from a pharmacy right? you have to have a script from a medical doctor. That's like working at toysrus and walking home with an xbox....it will be noticed.

The USP will find you out if you're abusing your license also. My sister is a pharmacist and she's never been tested for steroids.....not something they just test for. they test for drug abuse, that's it. I don't know of any employers that just randomly do steroid tests. Too expensive and not common enough.

Na bro, no aas test for pharmacists. Just dont steal my hrt script, haha! Or maybe u can make me one. I was at a kaiser hospital in the suburbs a few years ago (when i had medical insurance) and saw either a male nurse or doctor that was in professional ifbb condition! He looked like a latin lee priest, short, huge, forearms the size of my bis and tris put together and veiny as hell! Now what do u think the average male nurse or doctor working there is saying behind his back, must be taking bsn like ronnie coleman? People know but cant do anything if they did cus its not a big deal. Now if u came to work high as a kite smelling like ganja, blood shot eyes, and giving random scripts out like candy then someone might say something and im sure you'll get "drug tested", not aas tested. I got "drug tested" for l.a.p.d. but not aas tested for them. If they aint gonna test cops then im sure they aint gonna test pharmacists bro, u should be good! Just dont have any roid rage while at work, haha j/k!

I really can't see how taking performance enhancement would effect your job.?.

oh, and I'm not saying taking the pharmacies' products..absolutely not.

No pharmacists are not drug tested

Are doctors drug tested? No. They are professionals with years of schooling the same as Pharmacists. Often the only difference between a pharmD and a MD is 1-2 years of College. The classes are the same up until that last year. They deserve an equal amount of respect. They can make $100,000 or more a year. A cashier at Wal*Mart gets drug tested, not them.

The only way one would be forced to be drug tested is if they got in trouble with the LAW for possession of illegal narcotics and more than likely they would be reported to their respective licensing boards(pharmacy, medical) Even then they would not be forced to give up their license, only complete anti drug classes and maybe rehab with a few years probation. Those drug tests would NOT include a test for steroids. Just Amphetamines, Opiates, Benzos, Barbiturates and Alcohol.

With that out of the way I've worked in a pharmacy as a tech for over 10 years and I've ganked several vials of Cypionate and a few bottles of Oxandrin. There are so many drugs that pass through those places it's really hard to keep track of everything. But I won't do it anymore with the economy the way it is I value my job too much. There is much less accountability for CIII and up drugs(steroids, hydrocodones, benzos, and more) CII drugs (oxycodone, ritalin, amphetamine, morphine) on the other hand are very tightly controlled often counted every 2 weeks and a log book with exact amounts is kept.

Hope that clears a few things up.

Edit: By the way it's nice to be able to post about something I know a lot about. I've been lurking for a while but decided to register just to post this. A lot of great people on this board.

Any other Pharmacy questions you need answered?

not quite the same. my schooling and my sister's grad school were way different. both doctors, but taught way different.

you are very right about the professionalism. they are professional people so they are treated that way.

What do you think would be the TOP punishment for being caught with AAS? Like say and "order" when wrong and you were charged with "intent to sell". If that happened and you were a pharmacist, would you be F**ked or...? I would think at best you could get suspended or ...nothing?

I really don't think AAS should matter in pharmacy jobs, it doesn't impair judgement or lessen you capability to perform your job.
    Thanks

It doesnt matter what you think, or what is actually true. We are dealing with the government here and they say steroids kill so that's what they do!! And trying to kill yourself is evidently a major felony.

Pharmacists prepare and order medicines as well as provide drug informations to the consumer.
Doctors diagnose and treat illnesses, so they are the ones who write prescriptions. pre-SCRIPT-ions

umm...you have to have quite a large quantity before they charge you with intent to sell. I wouldn't see a reason to get caught, unless you gave them a reason. I wouldn't see police going out of their way to get a search warrant for a person's house on the assumption that they have steroids in their house unless they were distributing it. Private use is just too hard and expensive to prove and the punishment is almost nothing so it wouldn't do anything for them. Now taking a distributor off the streets is another thing. As far as being a pharmacist i wouldn't see it anymore of a danger than the average person. Now the consequences after having the charges filed i'm not sure of. I don't know if that goes against whatever licensing they have. I know a few doctors that have been in trouble for drug abuse and they are still practicing medicine so who knows.

I think theres more to this than trying to "jack" steroids from the drug store. I would think Phamacists would be able to concoct their own gear, and That would be awesome! lol
