    Your dad said arm and you showed him your forearm.

    How did you know he meant your forearm and not your upper arm (bicep/tricep)? Did he point or did you assume?

    i say "arm" or "leg" refers the whole extremity minus the hand or foot.

    anyway, my wife is East Indian: she takes it a step further and uses the word "hand" for the whole arm!
