Hair loss through anabolic steroids & genetics

I think I read somewhere that if you don't suffer from male pattern hair loss, i.e, none exists in the family and you have solid amount of hair on the head, then taking dht derivitives or androgenic steroids won't cause hair loss on the head?

Is this true?
