I was curious if anyone knows of a Complex Carbohydrate Powder that can be used in place of regular foods such as oatmeal. I think the waxy maize starch is a complex carb, but it is absorbed very rapidly, so it seems that it is good for a post workout insulin spike, but not for use as a food replacement.
I know that food is much better for you....but I just have a particular situation where it is difficult for me to eat much, and protein foods are my priority. If there was some type of complex carb powder that could be mixed in a drink, then that would be ideal for me as a way to get enough carbs in my diet.
Some of the protein powder and weight gainer mixes list carbs in the ingredients, but I don't know enough about biochemistry to know if these are the fast absorbing kind, or the slow engergy feeding kind.
I saw a Carbo Gain maltodextrin product that claims it is a slow sustained release corn starch carb, but I have read elsewhere that maltodextrin is absorbed as rapidly as glucose, which would not be a slow sustained realease, right?
