If your not religious, where do you go when you die?
You have to go somewhere, right?

Your body becomes part of the carbon cycle.....
memories
The more I have learned about the natural world, the more I am starting to see that to much has to happen for life to be anything but supernatural.
So I would say I am religious in my own way. I do not reject religion, we only ever see the bad it has caused which granted is a lot. When I examine my own faith I do not concentrate on the details of my religion. Instead I look at the concepts that my religion or other religions are trying to convey to me. I read the bible on my own and come to my own conclusions. Granted I cant quote scripture like a theologian, but I can comprehend what is written.
there are many uncertain things, which is where faith comes into play.... but there are also things that are certain.....to the grave is certain....and to dust is certain.
when you state, "You have to go somewhere", means that you automatically assume that your life continues on which is a belief system that based on organized religions etc...
Well, I guess I would be classified as a religious man.... but I am not affiliated with an organization.
I have a faith and a hope in a resurection (meaning raised from the dead/oblivion brought back to life)..... that is how I understand it. That term does not mean reunited to your body like modern churches teach... it literally means raised of from a dead state or brought back to life from a lifeless state. I don't think you go on living... you go to sleep to be awakened/resurected at the appointed time.... that is my hope. that is what I have...
This is where my atheist butt is going and I don't care what all you bible thumpers say...

Who knows... curious though
like any dead thing, decompose and the end, part of the cycle like MS said.
Or if the bible is your thing, you will be playing basketball with Jesus.
Or your soul and stay around and haunt people.
Or you can come back as an animal or another person perhaps?
who knows....
i try not to think about this. nothing scares me more than death. (im not religious)
i dunno if i'm "scared" of death because there very well could be "nothing"...
it's just - i didn't exist for billions and trillions of years...like...where was my soul or life before then?... it will most likely be like that "after" too.
i just life my life the best i can currently, and not worry about it.
I am not religious and since recently having a close family member past away i have thought about this question in great detail.
Its hard but i believe when you die , its just lights out. People say " You live one life so live it to it's fullest" and i believe that. I have never been able to make that leap of faith to believe there is something better out there.
I think about this a lot and get freaked out.
You should go to church if you want answers to these types of questions.
Seems like a steroid forum would be a bad place to ask, unless of course you really don't want to know the answer or already know the answer. I am guessing that you have some other motive for asking.
You rot, just like every other living thing on the planet,,,,, we are not special
The graveyard usually.
Hate to break it to you, but that's where you're going too buddy.
Humans are so afraid still, so afraid of the dark.
"we have to go somewhere, right?"
WHY do we have to go somewhere. Sorry, but I believe it is just oblivion that awaits us. No different to your IPOD or Gameboy running out of battery power for the final time.
well since u threw religion into this.. did u know heaven is hotter than hell?
The temperature of Heaven can be rather accurately computed. Our authority is Isaiah 30:26, "Moreover, the light of the Moon shall be as the light of the Sun and the light of the Sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days." Thus Heaven receives from the Moon as much radiation as we do from the Sun, and in addition 7 x 7 (49) times as much as the Earth does from the Sun, or 50 times in all.
The light we receive from the Moon is one 1/10,000 of the light we receive from the Sun, so we can ignore that.
The radiation falling on Heaven will heat it to the point where the heat lost by radiation is just equal to the heat received by radiation, i.e., Heaven loses 50 times as much heat as the Earth by radiation. Using the Stefan-Boltzmann law for radiation, (H/E)^4 = 50, where E is the absolute temperature of the earth (-300ºK), gives H as 798ºK (525ºC).
The exact temperature of Hell cannot be computed. However, Revelation 21:8 says "But the fearful, and unbelieving ... shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone." A lake of molten brimstone [sulphur] means that its temperature must be at or below its boiling point, 444.6ºC.
We have, then, that Heaven, at 525ºC is hotter than Hell at 445ºC.
THAT GIVES THE TERM BURN IN HELL A NEW MEANING....
by the way its meant as a joke please don't write me all kind of religious stuff now...

why do you have to go anywhere. Can't his be it. Are people that scared that we have to believe there is some life after this.
The unknown is scary for anyone.
We as humans (9 times out of 10) do everything to stay alive, not die. We'll fight for our lives and resort to canibalism. Its in our instinct. Thats what this question always gets me. We are we wired to survive? As is everything on this planet?
When we die, do we go to the same place we were at before we were born?
The unknown is scary for people. My problem is when people are so scared of not knowing that they will take answers from almost anyone regardless of how backed up with facts it is.
I'm speaking of religion if it wasen't clear, I think it's a very deranged concept take advantage human weakness and turning it into a social system.
Sorry for straying the topic. I feel it's very interesting to talk about and hear peoples ideas of what it "might" be. But to talk of it as it's actually factual is absolutely ridiculous.
All I can say is that if you live your life as if there is no God........you'd better be right.
