    Infection from HCG injection

I have developed an infection in my quad from an hcg injection that I did a couple days ago. It was the last shot in the vial and I think the hcg had gone bad (3-4 weeks old). It was a 500iu shot. The injection site is now a slightly swollen red lump that is warm to the touch. Yup, i'm a dumbass and I should have known better. Live and learn.
What is the procedure for treating such a condition? I have quite an array of medicine so i'd like to avoid going to the Dr if possible. I noticed it this morning and have already started taking amoxicillin. I took 500mgs twice already today.

    Thanks

    Karo

If you think its an infection, the only logical thing you can do is go to the ER.

Thanks. Does anyone know exactly how they treat an infection like this? Surely someone has had this happen before?

    Thanks

They have to test you to find which antibiotic you need. When I got a similar type of infection the first doc put me on the wrong one and it did nothing. Your going to be spinning your wheels if you dont go...and if it gets into your blood you fvcked..so go see a doc.

yeah go see a doc....sadly i'm infamous for infections....when i get an infection i go to my doc and get 2 grams of rocephin (sp?) and that takes care of it....depending on your size and how bad the infection is you will probably get less...two grams is a lot....if you let it go to long it will get REALLY ugly like RA up above said...go see a doc....it won't be as bad as you think

It's the "in the fridge" part that got me. This was my first time using it and I didn't realize that it was supposed to be kept in the fridge.

    Ducking for cover now!! ;o)

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm gonna go hit the walk-in clinic tomorrow. I'd like to NOT got to my primary care Dr if possible. Don't want to listen to him rag on me.

Everything is confidential but I wouldnt tell him anyway...unless it was something that he needed to know to treat me.

The infection is most likely not from the hcg but from the way you did the injection. You probably didn't sterilize everything and that is how you got it. Next time make sure you wipe down the injection site and wipe down the vial both with alcohol. Some type of antibiotic will clear it up. The amoxicillin will probably clear it up but, if not you might need some gentamicin.

I can't see how that would be. I am in the medical industry and i'm very familiar with sterilization practices. I assure you that everything was wiped down with alcohol and done properly. That is why I assumed it was bad hcg. I have also done over 40 injections in the last 3 months and never had a problem.
I'm hoping that the amoxicillin clears it up. If I don't see a drastic improvement by tomorrow at mid-day i'm going.

Unless LE subpoena your medical records. So the best policy is to say b12 and be done wit it. Medical records are legal documents, anything that is on there is considered fact.

Like RA said, don't incriminate yourself if you don't have to, but you'll be ok most likely due to confidentiality, LE won't care about your records unless they have a reason to and most cases why would they care?

i told my doc the first time it was b12, i don't think he believed because it's kind of obvious when you look at me that i don't just use creatine, but if you're injecting b12 then i'm sure they can kind of put 2 and 2 togehter and assume you're doing more...they're not idiots....i did eventually tell him it wasn't b12 cuz i was actually in the ER and they were having a hard time figuring out wtf was wrong and they were discussing cutting my leg open....so needless to say i told them what was up because i was scared....

the second time i was just straight up with the doc and i gave him a sob story on how i would never use again and i needed help stopping streroids....he gave me the rocephin and a therapist's number lol...he was cool though and i appreciated it....you should feel safe with you doc and if you dont' find one that you do

They would have to have other evidence against you and by then your already fvcked. My advice was sound. Dont tell the doc anything unless it is directly involved in your treatment.

    Update:
Big improvement overnight into today. The size of the red area is only half as big as it was, swelling is down and it appears to be going away. The amoxicillin appears to be working. I'm going to continue taking it for at least the next 10 days. If it starts to get worse i'll go to the Dr immediatley but right now it's looking good.
On a side note i'm glad that I bought the amoxicillin. The last time I ordered from my source I noticed that they had 100 amoxicillin caps at a good price so I ordered them to have on hand just in case I needed them. I don't think i'll run a cycle without having them on hand again.

    Thanks for the help guys.

The doctor can tell the police what you are doing in the event he fears for the patients health/life.

For example, if a heroine addict comes to the doctor and tries to get heroine (extreme case) if the doctor feels the patient could kill themselves/is addicted than he will tell the authorities.

Depends on the doctor, situation, etc. most of the time they won't blab, but don't take the chance. Deny deny deny until you absolutely have to admit it.
