Tetracycline is indicated for the treatment of acne in the PDR. Bactrim and or Septra is a combination drug of trimethoprim, a broad spectrum antibiotic and sulfamethoxazole, a sulfa type drug and is indicated for urinary tract infections, prostate infections, bronchitis, shigellosis, and pneumonia. No mention of bactrim used for acne. I have known people who used tetracycline for acne though and I don't believe it's too expensive.
P.S. Doxycycline is a member of the Tetracycline family of drugs, actually a derivative of Tectracycline and is likewise indicated for acne. Better check first with a Dermatologist, there might be something newer and better.
