asia travelling question

hey guys,

well im now in Asia and have been here for a few weeks travelling around and finding gyms when I can. im coming to the last leg of my trip before settling down in Thailand for 6 weeks. I have a few questions for those with knowledge on the topic:

firstly, im finishing up in Vietnam, and the gym im at the moment is the only place ive seen in Asia which sells proper Gold Whey Protein powder. Ive heard protein powder is illegal in Thailand though? Ive also been told its legal for personal use? Im considering buying some since im travelling via train from vietnam to thailand... will I be able to get any in Thailand? The tubs here range at about $65 for a big one.

Secondly, I'll be in Bangkok just after Christmas. Is there a place I can pick up gear near there or should I wait another week or two for Phuket? I can do day trips so anywhere close is fine.

ive been told pattaya which is ridiculously close to bangkok is a good place to pickup from... can anyone confirm its as good as phuket? thanks.

Protein powder:
No it's not illegal, only very hard to get. I now guys who order it or bring it but it's very expensive there.

Im not sure about BKK. I have heard you can in Phuket but not experience there. I know for a fact many many pharmacies carry them in Pattaya and Jomtien just down the road from Pattaya.

Dont waste much time in BKK, only 2 or 3 days. Spend some time it Pattaya, it's a LOT more fun than Phuket. Phuket has nicer beaches and some OK clubs but it's like comparing Reno to Las Vegas Phuket vs Pattaya.

I have been to Phuket yes.
BTW Pattaya is not ridiculously close, it's 1 1/2 hrs by taxi or any means of transportation.

first, whey protein is not inlegal in thailand. but FDA in thailand is not certificate it.

I can find some whey protien ( optimum, cytosport , maxx , dymatize) and gear too with the low price if you are interesting, tell me if you interesting in travel place I can suggest you some , i'm thai people
