The anabolic steroid control laws were formed only when anabolic steroids were in the heat of media discussion. They're no longer in the media and government spotlight anymore, and haven't been for a good 20 years now (save for a few tiny flare-ups here and there, and that is primarily in the United States). So henceforth, it doesn't look like steroid laws will be altered any time soon.
With that being said, however, the United States is the ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD that has illegalized the use and posession of anabolic steroids. Countries like Canada and the UK don't have such arcane laws and have allowed personal posession and use.
The steroid laws are here to stay, and unless you elect some guy in the United States like Ron Paul (which will not ever happen), they'll be here forever pretty much. I don't forsee any giant movement that is going to change the laws... there just isn't enough support, and most people don't even care.
