    Dramatic Bodyweight Drop - concerned

Firstly, I don't mean to post and annoy everybody everytime I gain or lose a pound. I think this is a bit strange, and may need immediate correction.

If you remember, I posted 2 weeks ago about how I have been on a strict cutting diet and after 2 weeks had gained a pound, was all upset, bla bla bla. My last weigh in (saturday morning) I was down about 1.5lbs and feeling back on track.

I usually only weigh myself every Sat. morning, before eating and after using the bathroom. I know I shouldn't have, but for whatever reason I jumped on the scale this morning (also before eating and post-bathroom) and found that I am down almost 4lbs since Saturday - that's only 3 days!

If this was a year ago and I still had 70lbs to lose, i'd be ecstatic. But I know I only have about 5-10lbs of bodyfat to go and dropping 4lbs in a week, let alone 3 days is NOT HEALTHY.

I do NOT think it was any kind of water retention since my weight has been pretty consistently declining about 1.5lbs/week with the exception of that period where I gained. I did not eat any differently yesterday, nothing has changed.

The only thing that was different is I attended a wedding Saturday night where I drank ALOT, extremely high carbs, etc. I didn't eat that much really, but the next morning I had a breakfast buffet - bacon, potatoes, carbs carbs carbs, etc. Now only 3 days later i'm 4lbs lighter than I was that morning (before the wedding)??

It's alarming and i'm concerned that i'm torching muscle now. Even if that was the case, 4lbs still seems very extreme. What gives?

Maybe you just had a rly rly huge dump man.. or at the wedding you were only drinking fluids and im guessing dancing.. burns a good amount of cals and no real food in you could def cause a weight drop.. as for the breakfast buffet.. you could have been holding some water maybe from excess amounts of sodium or something you ate at the buffet.. either way i would say stay away from alcohol and bcaon when u are on a strict diet...

You need mental help. You wine about gaining a pound then lose weight which you are trying to do then think 4lbs in 3 days is drastic which it isnt. I have had that weight fluctuation within the same day. If you are trying to lose wight and are then what is the problem seriously?

LoL LoL yea but the dump is nothing out of the ordinary for me!

Yes, I mostly drank and did dance for about 3 straight hours... and yes i'm SURE the breakfast buffet caused serious water retention. But like I said - my weight from this morning is 4lbs lighter than it was BEFORE the wedding... in other words I could see if I was a pound heavier this morning; i'd chalk it up to water retention from the wedding. But 4lbs lighter?

And you're right - bacon and alcohol is a definite no - no - next wedding is April though, and i'm the best man. =(

My man... I understand you're point completely, but don't appreciate the insult. I'm not wining. Maybe you have your $hit so in check that you don't doubt or second guess yourself... but i'm not as great as you.

Yes, I have fluctuated 4lbs in a day too... after I eat for instance, I might be 4-6lbs heavier. After I take a dump, I might be 2lbs lighter. That's to be expected and you haven't seen me making posts about that.

After being around the same weight for 6 weeks (granted, slowly losing), I think a 4lb loss in 3 days IS dramatic. If I weigh myself tomorrow and was 3-4lbs heavier again, then I will not make a post like this again and will stop my 'wining'. But if i'm doing something very wrong, I don't want to continue it any longer than what's already happened and that's why I ask questions that may seem stupid or mental to you.

You're right, I do need mental help but it has nothing to do with dieting... :

I remember when I was on a strict cutting diet before starting my cycle. My weight would fluctuate like crazy. Nothing to be concerned of.

I agree with Mg that it's not annoying that you post frequently. I also give you credit for being so diligent and using this forum to your disposal to insure success. That said, my advice = don't weigh yourself or post/read threads for a few weeks. I've seen your diet. I've seen your dedication. Just have faith bro.

Solid job so far. So many impatient noobs try to starve themselves while still lifting as if they're making big gains. Others seem to think that as long as they eat clean or cut carbs they can consume as many cals as they want - neither enjoy lasting results. What you're doing is mentally taxing but you won't regret it.

Sounds to me like your body was holding onto weight, possible starvation mode(?), and then once you gave it a serious refeed, it dropped it. Happens like that all the time. All you did was give yourself a crappy refeed day. may have torched some muscle with that drinking but once the bf gets low you will look great. Anyway there might be a rebound, so keep your diet and training (especially cardio) in check for the next couple days. No cheating.

Gbrice....I am glad to see you are still on track minus the wedding. LOL You know I am with you man but I think Redz has a point...you ARE mental. We are ALL mental and have a bit of OCD in our pursuits. If we didn't have that then we wouldn't achieve the successes that some of us have.

So..in summary...if I were you I would say "Hey, Thanks Redz! I am ****ing crazy. Crazy enough to achieve my goals"

I am glad you are getting there, man. I was going a bit crazy myself reading post after post. I had to give this forum a break and I only specifically came on here, after realizing it was Sunday, to see how your weekly wiegh in went.

Thanks Twist, that very well may have been it. I weighed in yesterday morning and was back at 184... so in the end, after the wedding and the subsequent weight drop, I am back at where I was the morning of the wedding - not great but not bad either, I guess. Maybe the pattern has shifted to a lb. or so every other week - I can live with that as long as it's a lb. of fat. Time will tell!

Out of curiosity - why would drinking alcohol torch muscle? I've never heard that before...

LoL good points man, I love your perspective and the positive spin you put on this. You're absolutely right - this IS an obsessive type behavior and I guess I/we are a bit crazy with it! Thanks!

LoL no sir... not this weekend! I can't say I had the greatest weekend though; a small binge at the candy bins in Wegman's... I hate that effing place! I gotta wake up and get back on track - I feel like i'm slipping a bit in terms of diet...loosening the reigns a tad too much. Hopefully today's refeed will get me off on the right foot tomorrow morning in the gym with some good lifts.

Great point man, I could care less if I'm 170 so long as I like the way I look. The problem is right now I don't, so when I don't see a change I get a little nuts. I just need to work on consistency and I still believe the results will come...
