People are stupid. I heard they didnt want to turn the car off because they would lose the power steering or the steering wheel would lock. If you shut the car off but turn the key the wheel wont lock and unless your a complete puussy you should be able to control the car without the power steering.

Like the guy on the 911 call, she asked him to put it in neutral. Hes like "I'm trying to control the car!!" Just put down the ****ing phone and put it in neutral. I think a lot of these people are just crashing the cars on purpose or accident and blaming it on faulty equipment to get out of it. There has been a major spike in incidents since the reports started being circulated in the media.

Its not fun to merge onto a highway full of cars doing 70 when your only going 43? haha there was a car salesman that used to go to my gym and he told me that parts and maintenance is extremely expensive. He said the tires were insanely expensive because the car is so heavy it needs special tires. He could be blowing smoke up my ass so dont quote me on this.

how many feet does that add to your highway stopping distance? And why is that acceptable?
Engine shut off timeout is longer...like 3-5 seconds and the section of road he was on was very curvy and he was afraid to be without power steering on a curvy road at 90mph.
floor mats were removed...he reached down to pull back on the gas pedal...why should anybody have to accept a car that does this?

No one should accept it. But...he could have just put it in neutral and ended the situation a lot sooner. It went on for 20 minutes or something like that.
Common sense, guys...neutral. I have a Scion tC as a daily driver/beater, I can slip it into neutral no problem while at any speed. This car shares the same drivetrain as the Camry.

They have more deaths for unintended acceleration then all other car companies combined and multiplied by 2.
They're still getting a huge number of reports after the fix and are bragging about a sales rebound in March.

Thats the thing though. The spike in reports of unintended acceleration AFTER the first story broke is suspicious.

I call shenanigans on the guy from California. It's just waaaayyy too easy to get out of a runaway accelerator situation. Put it in neutral....problem solved.
I suspect people are now smelling big $$$ through lawsuits against Toyota. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more stunts like this.

i got a perfect solution. If you are driving a car and the gas gets stuck...look around for a little rice car with a fart pipe, a car with a lady talking on the phone or putting on make up or a car with some one eating and smash the f*ck into them. Atleast if you are going to have an accident that you won't be responsible for...you can take one of those moron's off the road for a while.

Unless NHTSA finds something wrong with his car...I'd assume his whole story was a hoax for 15min of fame.
Nothing he did makes much sense...and given his past, it's tough to trust him...not that they shouldn't go over the car fully.
