    Need Help on Reading levels

A newbie here... just had a blood test done and interested in knowing what you guys think as far as if HRT is something i should look into.

I am almost 48 years old. Workout a lot... but my fat% has gone up steadily for the last few years... energy is low, don't sleep well etc...

    total Test = 344
    free test % = 1.28
    Free Test = 44
    IGF-1 = 107

Have been to two different doctors.... the first tried to sell me on the test pellets... so i felt I was being sold this because it was the "product of the month"... the second dr was a great guy, but I think he thought I was just trying to get HGH for the gym (like I have anyone to impress....)

So still trying to find someone that will talk to me about HRT... but am very intersted if you guys think I am a candidate for it

Your test score is low, but not in the range where a lot of doctors will be jumping to put you on TRT. Most mainstream docs want it below 280. With that said, there's the real world. I know that I would feel crummy in the 300's, so getting up a few hundred points would probably make you feel good. On the other side of it, you said your fat has gone up, etc. I suspect a lot could be done on the diet and exercise regiment to get that under control. Did your doc run estrogen and other panels? If so, was anything else out of range?

You mentioned the remark about HGH. Do you have a negative impression about it? HGH could do some really good things to help you improve. The one you would impress would be yourself. To answer you, yes you would probably do better by getting on HRT if the 300's are as good as it gets for you naturally. If the doc is going to put you on it, look at going with weekly injections.

My test scores were similar. My doc operates by a "treat the patient, not the scores" philosophy and with all of my symptoms pointing to low test he put me on TRT at 100mg EW. No hassle.

Find a doc that will treat you based on your input combined with your scores and not just on numbers alone.

thanks guys.... like I said I have been to two doctors... the first is at an anti-aging clinic where they way overcharged for the blood test and consultation and first talked about the test shots and hgh... then when i came in after the results came in, he switched to the pellets... said it was a new product he was pushing.. so I have no idea how good the pellets are and just felt like he was pushing it to make a profit

the second dr took one look at me and said "wow you are huge why do you want hgh"... I said "to feel better..." while he admitted my levles were a little low I could tell he thought I was doing it just for hte gym and in all seriousness... I just want to feel better.

I am looking around to try and find someone that will at least get me started on something... I am not going to feel any better from 48 on up.....

Ed, I wished more doctors worked like yours. If I am at 350, my primary doctor (female) will say that I'm within range, end of story. No stopping to see how I feel or what I think. These types of docs look at it two ways. If the score is <280 then you must feel off, if it's above 280 then you feel fine ... Of course if you get over 800 then you're in danger of seriously harming yourself as my primary described. Anyway, enough of that crap, that's why I went to a HRT specialist.
