Sorry we missed you! Note on the door.

Anyone have any advise on my current sittuation... Its been 4 weeks since I ordered my package and I just got a note from the postman that I had a package waiting for me at the post office. Should I go get it? Or is it a sting to get me to accept the package?... Shouldnt he have left it at the door if no signature was required? Anyone with any experience please let me know what to do..

ps. How many bottles would be cosidered a large package?

I've had the post man leave the "sorry we missed you note" before, but it was for computer hardware I ordered, not gear. Was no signature required, not sure why they didn't just leave it at the door.

I'm not sure what I would do in that situation, but they do leave that note for other things.

I like your thinking. But when I am sitting behind bars for 1.5 years thinking back on their lazy asses, I am going to re-think the simplicity.

Have you orders many times, from the same place recently? The postal service has a sector called The Postal inspection division. It's a federal law enforcement agency. One of their duties is to monitor and inspect mail. One of the red flags is multiple packages being sent from forein countries. Due to terrorism, drugs, etc. Due to the origin, or if you have had heavy traffic from out of the country, your package could have been selected and screened/xrayed.

Once you accept, sign and retrieve the package as your own, you are legally responsible for the contents.

I'm paranoid for you. But like it said, I've recieved a note like that before.

its up to the postman if they want to leave a package on how safe it is. My postman wont leave anything.

If they wanted you they would have not left anything and just came back when you are home. Swat isn't sitting waiting for you to show up for a week at the PO

my nieghbor is a post man and they are supposed to bring any packages that does not fit in a mail box unless someone is there to accept it. he said many postman are lazy and forget to follow that rule and they jamb it in your door. maybe your package did not fit in your box and you have a new mailman who is following the letter of the law. but I have been in a similar situation and I drove around the post office several times looking for unmarked cars and people loittering around. you cant help but worry but I think you are good to go. that is not a very controlled way to bust someone.

Remember, they don't sit at the post office waiting. They nailed people all the time for sending marijuana and other drugs through the mail system. The post office alerts authorities, who alert local law enforcement agencies. They mark the package. When you come to retieve it, the postal clerk scans the package, which will send a signal to the postal system that you have accepted the package as your own. They then alert the local authorities, whom are already aware of the situation. They know who you are, where you live, have everything documented.

Now, they send out a unit to your home. They just have "a few questions about a package you signed for."

I just took the dog for a walk around my condo and saw the mail man the the other mail station. I asked him if he was the one who left the package at my door, and if so, may I pick it up and save a trip to the post office. He said it was regestered mail and I need to show ID and sign for it. I think he was intimidated by the growling dog and forgot to check my ID (thank god because the package was not shipped to my name). I scribbled someting that sort of resembled a signature on the slip and set the package outside the door. I wrote in big black letters "Return to sender, no soandso at this address." I will let it sit there for 24hrs before bringing it in my home. Sound like a good plan?

It's really not that big a deal and unless you are buying enough to be considered intent to distribute then jail time is very unlikely. I would have no problem going to pick it up at the post office.

What would you consider a large order? Or intent...

Dont want to make anyone nervous. You simply need to be carefull. Nobody wants to get pinched! I have done my research, and this seems to be the safe method.... any thoughts?

I'd rather hear all the stories and make a fully informed decision than have people sugar coat it for me.

Usually these letters allow you to sign them instructing the post man to leave at the front door, back door, wherever you note for a redelivery. Did you use your real name for the shipping addy? When you pick up at the post office, they will ask for ID to see if the names match.

The return to sender trick is unlikely to work at best. Just by holding the package to write that on it can give cops probable cause to search your place. If they are running surveillance on your home they arent gonna let you write that on there and sit it at the door and wait 24 hrs to make sure you didnt fool them. That kind of thinking is total bullshit.

Go get it! No worries. I ordered from a site that said no signature required and when it came I had to sign for it. And it took 4 weeks also. I signed and nothing happened. I got my gear just fine. So most likely they just honestly need your signature.

If it came from overseas it would have a note siezed in customs in it. If its not in your name what are you worried about?

Any priority international through the USPS requires a signature.

    You're overly paranoid.
