    Tapering Test E... Good idea?

Just saw my family doctor the other day to see what he would suggest for a steriod cycle just to get another perspective. He suggested tapering would not cause atrophy in the balls. He said not to run HCG and I wouldnt need PCT. I dont think that is correct maybe you guys can help me. This is what he suggested.

    2 375

Is this your first cycle? If so, IMO using 750mg a week is too high. You have plenty future cycles to go higher if you really want to.

I was reading through "The Steroid Bible" the other day (I like to keep a library of different AAS readings) and it talks a lot about tapering in there (if you don't know, this book was written in the mid 90s). You don't hear much about that these days. (BTW, that book sucks. I don't recommend it.)

I see the theory behind tapering down, but I don't know if there is any medical examinations done that back it up. To me, it seems like you would still be shutdown the same because you are still using a synthetic compound, regardless of the strength.

Taper or not, run PCT. It can only help in restarting your natural testosterone, while keeping estrogen at bay.

EDIT: For the record, I have hever tapered. It seems like it would keep your blood levels inconsistent and throw things off a bit. Like said above, just run 400-500mg a week for 12 weeks.

Your family physician knows nothing about steroids. It's not his fault, they are simply not trained to administer AAS. At the very least they would be prescribing it for hormone replacement therapy purposes only, and that's where a family medicine doctors knowledge will stop. He does not know anything about using steroids for bodybuilding purposes. Keep your dose constant at 500mg/week for 12 weeks, and then run a PCT. Also, your stats would help us in giving some better advice. Age, height, weight, bf%, years training, etc.

Is tapering necessary with Test E? Since it has a 3wk half-life, doesn't it essentially 'self-taper' after the last full dose?

Someone please correct me if I am wrong on this.

No need to taper down. You are shut down and tapering down will not help you.

I like to taper, no matter how long the ester is.

I got severe acne from Enanthate from going from 500mg/wk to nothing.

I've been on 350mg/wk Test Prop recently and tapered off (from 100mg/EOD to 50mg/EOD) and I'm in PCT with very little acne.

Although the ester will taper the parent hormone, if acne is of a concern, taper the long ester too.

    It is, yes.

Although the HPTA may restore itself alone (without meds).

Doctors (I find) are like any other profession. Some are good, some are terrible.
