Hello,
I am a female in my late 20's. I have been doing a particular sport for over 20 years. I have serious complications from endometriosis, and am about to have my third surgery. Birth control has been of no help to me. My doctor has recommended after this surgery I try a shot of depo lupra (sp?). He said that that makes you go through menopause. The side effects sound horrible, as do the "testimonials" I have read from people on it...not to mention birth control and I assume the shot had/ will have a horrible effect on my sports performance and ability to make weight. So needless to say I am trying to avoid this depo shot. However my problems are so bad it's getting to the point I can not even train. AFter this next surgery I will have some relief, but it won't be lasting.
I did some research and learned they used to prescribe a derivative of a modified testosterone called danocrine (danazol) in the 70's to treat endometriosis, but have since stopped b/c it had masculinizing effects on women, and that is when they began using the depo lupra shot. All of the drugs to treat endo revolve around stopping production of the ovaries (thus inhibiting further growth of the endometriosis). I found on a few other forums people talking about Anavar for women and that it was somewhat similar to danocrine, but did not have any masculinizing effects. I also am under the understanding that testosterone stops a womans period until the cycle is over, thus stopping production of the ovaries?
Can anyone offer any insight for me?
I realize you all probably arent doctors.
What's a safe dose? I read 5-15 mg but I can only find 10 mg tabs with the pharmacy we use. I am about 5'2 and hit 130 at my highest where I am 20% bf. I usually walk around around 125-125 and compete 117-126. (compete = spots not bodybuilding) I had a body fat analysis that said at 117 I'm at 12%. I really dont care to be below that.
I really dont care about how I look, I am really interested in some help with fatloss but most importantly just feeling better without having to take a drug that is going to put me through menopause with horrible side effects, especially if I can get the same result from a drug that might actually enhance my performance a little, although I'd be fine with a low dose even if It didnt enhance it much at all.
Thanks in advance for your replies!
