How expired is it? Days, weeks, months, or years??

Bro, he said a year....it would be fine...
It would be fine IMO.
niceee thanks fellas... i was reading that it might not be as strong so i was thinking about just bumping up the dosage
I dont think you should risk it. It's probably really weak and could cause you problems. You should send it to me so I can dispose of it properly.
Your welcome![]()
What oil is it in?
The prop wont expire but the oil will. Grapeseed oil only lasts about 6 months.
It may be slightly extended yes, however, the main problem with oil's is when they become exposed to air. With vials, they are still not immune to this exposure, as we regularly inject air to help balance out the pressure between the inside of the vial and the outside.
Basically, when air is in contact with oil a mechanism known as oxidization occurs. With this process a number of oxygen free radicals will form causing a number of problems. The major one is the rise in peroxide levels in the oil, which leads to toxicity. The more peroxide the more toxic the oil is. Also Grapeseed oil has an abundance of linoleic acid within its makeup (60-70%) of which begins to deteriorate when it is oxidized. This deterioration is what reduces the quality of the oil and hence its shelf-life, however, peroxide levels are the main concern. This is especially relevant when we expose out gear to the high heat of autoclaving.
I have attached a link below to a study if your bothered,.

Mr. Rose while that indeed does make some sense (though the air i inject into the vial must come FROM the vial... (unless air can seep in).
Only thing I have to say is who is using gear, but not finishing it, and storing it for a long time? I would assume that the OP is talking about just having a vial of test (unopened) laying around and noticed its over a year expired.
Anyway, not sure about you guys but in Australia we dont have "use by" dates. We have "best before" .. which I gather negates the legal responsibilities of the proprietor from where you bought your stuff from, but still says "hey it "could" be OK, but youre putting this in you so your call".
If stored right I cant imagine it will be bad. May loose potency as pointed out above but I wouldnt go doubling your dosages or anything crazy to compensate for "maybes"
ThatGuyYeahHim, I have addressed the OP's question. I have explained that the Test prop molecule will not have expired however that the carrier oil will have expired. How can you inject air from inside the vial back into the vial? If you have a 10cc vial (total volume is around 11cc) you will have 10cc of oil and 1cc of air, when you withdraw say 1cc to inject, you how have a 1cc void in your vial which must be replaced by the oil or the air that is currently in the vial. This will create a negative pressure within the vial. The only way to relieve this pressure is to inject air from outside the vial into the vial. Also air can always seep in. Even in your coca cola cans, the CO2 gas over time can seep out and cause a 'flat' drink.
I am from Australia, and we have both expiry dates and best before dates.
His test prop, if it was 100mg/mL WILL STILL BE 100mg/mL however the oils toxicity would of increased. To what extent, no one knows, but i doubt it would affect anything due to minute amount of still air that has been in there.
Mr. Rose - wow that did my head in. Though I get the gist of it (after 3 reads)
Oi Oi Oi. Sorry I couldnt think of anything with expiry or use by dates. I even checked my milk and yoghurts. No biggie. Thanks for the education
hmm well im still kinda confused if i should use it, I have to decide by tomorrow,
on the side of the vial it says 100mg of prop per ml, 2mg of benzyl alcohol
I take it the benzyl alcohol is the perservative, does this mean im good to go?
Darn good info! Thank for the discussion guys.
You can use it, it wont do you any bad.
The benzyl alcohol acts as a bacteriosatic agent which stops bacteria from growing. So it will still be sterile. The oil might be a bit off but it will be 100% effective as the day you bought it.
