    Deadlift Help

Okay so I was injured back in October while performing a heavy deadlift without a belt. The guy in the rack next to me lost hold of his weight and sent it flying into mine right in that vulnerable position and my spotters couldn't stop it from wrenching my back sideways.

I have been trying to rehab it for months but no longer have the stability in that position to keep an arch and would like to get back to heavy weight soon. Any ideas?

By the way I am 6'5" so the mechanics are a bit different than someone who is 5'9".

So what you are telling us is that you wish to re-injure yourself. Why can't people understand and i am not flaming you, that squat and deadlift are dangerous, i lost 9 years of my life due to an injury doing both theses exercises.

Threw all the incompetent i went to see to fix my back including chiros and worst i finally found prolotherapy and a great sport doctor.

He told me that most of is patience that come to the clinic got injured doing the deadlift, squats or jogging theses are the worst you can do to injure your body.

He also told me that there is a price to pay for all theses heavy lifts but most people have huge egos and will never stop doing them even if its breaks there body for life.

Each time you do a lift like this tremendous pressure is put on the spinal disk, the ligaments and tendons, wear and tear.

I am not saying this my sport doctor is with 35 years of practice in the field.

I am not the one who technically was responsible, I was using proper form and not maxing out or anything like that. However, it was a heavy lift and the person lost THEIR weight and hit MY weight from the side forcing the injury. Ultimately, I would not have been injured if it were not for someone who was irresponsibly lifting. Think about being t-boned at an intersection while driving a car, little you can do to prevent it from happening.

This lift is dangerous, do some research on some sites and you will see, the proper form is you must contact your glutes then lift with your legs and if done properly you should not feel any pressure in the lower back.

Last year i started to do deadlifts again, and the pain in my lower back came back right away, it is then that i spoke of this lift to my sport doctor and he told me all the horror stories, i never attempted to do it again.

There are tones of other exercises that you can do that are a lot safer and will build a great body.

Either way its up to you, if you still want to continue doing deadlifts then go ahead just consider what i have told you about this lift.

And i really hope you don't end up injured as i did and waste 9 years of your life going from one so called back specialist to another.
