Mate, i go to many doctors at the same time, each one gives me any blood test i want without a problem. The other month i got a $1500 test for free with medicare, he wrote severe acne on the form, i dont have severe acne, .

They don't care, because they get paid to do the tests.

hmmm yeah, i live in a very small town in work in the health care industry, so im uneasy about telling my GP that ive been using them, she knows my mum etc.
i may just go with the 1st few suggestions.

i know they arnt going to care much about it and dont know if they can legally say anything to anyone else, just makes me uneasy as future career options can be affected

Take a trip out of town. Just tell them youre not comfortable speaking to your GP as he treats your whole family and small town everyone knows eachother.
    Visit Melbourne.

legally smegally. I have friends who are doctors in small towns and those bastards like nothing more than a gossip.
While you have doctor patient confidentiality, it'd be super difficult (not to mention expensive) to prove that your doctor told someone else. Unless you have some sort of recording (which can be illegal if all parties are not aware of it) youd be f'd trying to prove they blabbed. Especially in a small town.

    Good luck.

i dont understand the fuss about getting asking for a blood test, just tell them what you want, why you want it and its all free and easy.

dont stress about it mate. like wat most here said, just tell the doc wat blood test u wan and he'll do it. docs are subject to privacy agreements and besides, the damage is to ur own body not his nor his reputation as he is not prescribing u anything illegal.

    Pathlab, in Melbourne, Australia
Sell services direct to all nations

    1) Alternatively you can buy a 24 hour urinary hormone collection kit, for individual hormones which you select, and you can get the test results sent to yourself, and you do not need a medical professional adviser issued lab requisition - from Pathlab in Melbourne, Australia.

Pathlab will airmail the collection kit to you, and you can airmail the sample back to Pathlab.

The specimens are preserved in boric acid, which is a reasonable preservative, provided you airmail the samples back in reasonable time.

Pathlab will test any urinary hormone either individually, or as a group - and you can nominate each of the hormones in a group (including GH).

    1) List of Integrative Medicine Tests available from Pathlab:

    http://www.pathlabim.com.au/page.jsp?p_id=2

    2) Call them an ask for "Integrative Medicine" (critical)

    Phone: +61 3 8831 3000

    3) Specify which hormones, eg: E2, T, GH, cotisol, etc...

    4) Specify "Self Referred" (so that you will get the results, not your doctor)

    5) Ask for the price of all hormones (you will pay when you send sample, by affixing your credit card details and signature)

approx AUD$25 per hormone, except GH which is AUD$80 + around AUD$20 (static charge for processing and handling)

    6) Reports in 2 weeks if in Australia, not sure how much additional time required to ship reports to UK and Canada - therefore if you don't get the report in under (say) 3 weeks, then call and ask them to fax the report to you.

    7) Additional details:

    PathLab
    68 Burwood Highway
    Burwood
    Victoria, 3125
    Fax: +61 3 9808 2247

Please do not purchase salivary testosterone or estradiol test as they are innacurate.

Urine is more accurate for somehtings, saliva for others..

I.E 4 x cortisol daily is more effective then 24hour urinary cortisol or 1 serum cortisol draw.

However serum is better for DHEAs then salivary.

Some things you need to do 24hour urine for. Like GH for example.. Serum draw simply shows 1 split second of your bodies chemistryt hat changes constantly through out the day.

However testosterone e2 ect ect serum is the only way to go.
