Priapism. PLEASE READ GUYS!!!

I took 100 mg of Trazodone to help me sleep. Woke up at 6a.m. with a raging erection. I kept trying home remedies to aleviate the symptoms, nothing worked. After 16 hours i went to the E.R. The first thing they tried was sticking an 18 gauge needle in my penis to drain the blood. It kept filling back up.Then they tried injecting a vasodilator so the veins would open up and let the blood escape. I had 4 injections of this into my penis. Next step was to be surgery. I stayed the night and it seems as though i will be ok. Guys, seriously, if you have an erection lasting 4 hours go to the DR. ASAP. I was VERY lucky. Your penis is not getting oxygen and you can ruin it and your sex life forever. Its like putting a rubber band around your finger. I am only 42 and my wife is 30. I really didnt want to have to rely on a penial implant/pump. Do not wait to be treated.

Is this a serous post? I have had erections lasting over 4 hrs SEVERAL times and Im well over 40 and GF is also 30, some of the gf's are 20s. But that being said, big deal... Use it. The only time I was a little worried was the ONE time I took a Viagra when i was with 2 girls and yes it lasted over 4 yrs but eventually went down after finishing business a couple times.

I could NOT imagine letting anyone stick me with a needle...... I think I would let it blow up first... LOL

Yeah, i would say the same macho shit about it also but when the Doctor is telling you about impotence and other severe problems, you'll let em do whatever it takes. I dont know about the whole oxygen thing but I know I have had 4hr hardons with no ill effect afterward. It's not a daily/weekly occurrence but when you have 2 or 3 girls you are playing with at the same time it's not difficult to stay hard for several hours.

So what's the verdict? Are things going to work as normal?

See, thats the kicker. I also have had 4 hr erections before and believe me i took full advantage of it. Thats why i kept delaying goin to the Doctor. I thought it would eventually go down. Believe me, I know what you mean about not letting anyone near your stuff with an 18 gauge needle but when faced with permanent damage you will do anything to save your buddy. This was going on 16 hrs. So far, so good. Haven't had sex yet, still sore and lots of bruising. The urologist said that 75% of the priapism cases she sees have taken this drug. Dont get it twisted, not 75% that take it get priapism. 75% of the cases she gets have taken it. I will keep you guys posted.

Wow. I use caverject occasionally for when I want an erection for 5-6 hours. It starts to ache some but it always goes down once I cum 3-4 times. Trazodone is an interesting drug. I tried it once, wasn't really a fan. Are you using it for sleep?

Yeah, it was for sleep. Believe me, after getting my penis stabbed repeatedly, i will never use it again. Once was enough!!!

I was way too scared about damage to my penis to worry about being embarrassed. One would thing that iw would be embarrassing but being in the situation myself, that was the last thing on my mind.

True Blood had an episode where Jason had priapism and they stuck in a needle in his dick. Cringe at the thought.

Tony, did they insert the 18-gauge needle at the same spot four times repeatedly or did they varied the locations? I had a 25-gauge and 21-gauge needle inserted in the same spot and my penis ended up with a slight tilt. I think with four 18-gauge injections, the damage from the needle might be more severe than the priapism.

How are your erections now? Has it recovered to normal yet?

gotta love this post. It really happens. My co-workers' daughter is a urologist, and I have heard stories you wont believe. (kidney stones lodged in the piss tube) surgery to cut them out. this story is apparently very common (viagra abusers) but only one older guy got anything near gangrene and had to remove it. but I am sure it does happen.
and it seems that over injectors on never ending cycles get ALOT of prostate problems.
