That's the biggest problem these days. So many of the original ways that most of these classic exercises were performed have now been proven to be harmful and lead to injury. Except 90% of the people out their who think they know what they are talking about always want to bitch and moan when they see someone doing that exercise the modern, more effective, and safer way, because they don't educate themselves enough to know any better.
The best part is when all the tiny guys watch videos of the biggest, strongest men in the world working out, then say something like "he's doing that wrong, he has terrible form, obviously he is only seeing results because of genetics and steroids" lol
