Felt a pop on my left side

I was doing leg presses on the sled today, focusing on bringing the sled down as far as possible between reps, and then I felt a pop on my left side around my 2nd/3rd lowest ribs. My first thought was "oh crap, I just ruptured my spleen!" but I'm pretty sure I'd be dead right now if that had been the case.

I immediately stopped doing leg presses, but I did finish the rest of my workout without much issue. I can still feel it though, and it's not painful but it's a bit uncomfortable. Could I have dislocated/cracked a rib? Wouldn't I be in significant pain if that were the case? What else could it be?

Bodies make sound weird sounds sometimes...........Different movements, different actions, or a quick awkward movements might make a weird sound but not always mean its bad or an injury.

If it doesn't hurt or stop you from doing your workout it obviously isn't major. If something hurts bad, my first move, doctor MRI. Because no one can know for sure whats going on inside, not even doctor until an MRI is performed.

And if it's just an "uncomfortable" feeling you definitely did not crack a rib or dislocate anything. That causes MASSIVE amounts of pain.

If you're lifting sooner or later you're going to get injuries. The difference is kinks or serious injuries. Every lifter gets little kinks, takes a couple days off, feels 100%.

You just need to justify between the two.

Same thing happened to me 3 years ago. Thought it was nothing and let it heal. Then, it "popped" again 6 months later and I had it xrayed. It was a fractured rib. It hurt a lot more the 2nd time around!!

I had a hard time sleeping last night, and it's definitely more sore today, although not dehabilitating. If I push on my lowest ribs, there's definitely some pain there. I'm gonna see how my workout goes today, and if I don't feel better after the weekend is over, I'll schedule an appointment to see my Dr. Hopefully it's nothing serious as I have a PT test coming up in about a month.

Damn Frawnz, hope everything works out..Maybe it was just like popping your knuckles or neck or something...You know sometimes it pops and feels so good and other times you do it incorrectly and it hurts.

Most of my workout went well today, but the 2.5 mile run I did after was pretty brutal. Felt like I had a cramp in my side the whole time. =/

DO not play the pain game. Like I said, if it hurts more then a few days I would go to the doctor regardless and find out what it is. What bad can come from going to the doctor? There is no negative that can come from it, you'll just get an answer to your problem.

But if you keep training while injured, there definitely will be some negatives.

So after doing quite a bit of research, I've found that this specific injury is quite common from doing deep leg presses (and every anecdote I've seen states that it happened on the left side. It's called an intercostal tear/pull, and pretty much has to heal on it's own. I'm gonna try to avoid exercises that make it hurt, and it should fully heal within 4-6 weeks. If I didn't have a PT test coming up soon, I'd take some time off, but that's just not an option right now.
