    Yet another rant

for god sakes....why are women so completely different than males? I mean seriously, my wife keeps complaining about her job and ranting about it. Her boss basically dumps all her work on her and she takes it, so the boss keeps doing it. I tell her to stand up for herself and document it all. Keep a CYA documentation and go over her head. She neverrrrr does. Now she is once again crying saying she wants to give her notice w/o another job offer and I have to play sympathetic EVEN THOUGH she has had 2 job offers for slightly less than she makes now at other locations that she has turned down. I mean if it's that bad, then just take the other jobs. Now she wants to quit? I mean how frickin illogical!

OH and she keeps goin on about how I wouldn't understand because I'm in IT and she thinks there is no politics involved...I mean I have been promoted into people's job 2 times by doing what I suggested to her. I also have had to play all kinds of sneaky sh*t to get useless dead weight co-worker fired.

There is no difference in job environment...there is only 1 difference between the situations...I handled it head on.

I blame the estrogen but on a more serious note; she is afraid of change. It just the same fear of changing something that has been going on for awhile and moving onto something different. It can be tough for some people who don't coup with change very well.

Like nec said, it sounds like she's scared of change. She'd rather run from her problems.

and if we were like you?

I understand this actually. And it is deep in our psyche. To this day females still do not feel deserving when it comes to a pay check hence why she absorbed all of her boss's work. And then when things got too out of balance, she decided to cut bait instead of addressing it because it is hard to challenge someone who has taken full advantage meantime allowing it all along. So to do so, she would have to eat crow more than likely. An admission to herself that she allowed it in the first place.

So she is now dreaming of the perfect scenario where she is treated with respect. But here is the catch: gotta earn it. And like I already mentioned, females still do not feel they deserve it. Hence why so many men still run businesses. Plus the fact that we females are a lot more emotional. And emotions and work do not mix in most cases. It is a hard lesson. And this is where guys have the advantage.

But our emotions come in handy with other things. Conceptual thinking is high on the list. This is where she might shine.

So taking on her boss's humdrum task went against her nature.

Yeah zimmy, sounds like she has change issues, but I actually thought it might have to do with what Slimmer said.

Having said that, the only solution I see is to stab her boss.

In a way I have to agree with Slimmer. Not necessarily on the deserving part. Women have been genetically pre-programmed to multi-task and clean up messes. Looking back into history they ran the tribes and villages and took care of the families. They are used to picking up the pieces and picking up the slack and it's not meant in a derogatory way. Sometimes Bro you need to meet them half way. If you are too supportive you are enabling her. At the same time you need to be a little supportive. It's a slippery slope. So, to not end up on the couch, you might suggest that she start looking for a more profitable and positive working environment so she doesn't feel weighed down by documenting the incidents. She might look at it as recording her painful experiences. Regardless of her not liking change, feeling like she is powerless, undeserving or not in control, looking for another job might be a way to help her feel like she is in control and empowered with her situation. Encourage her by letting her know she can use the extra work by adding it to the resume and going for a better position.
I have 2 Sisters, this approach usually works with them.
