cycle after two years

Hey guys just a quick question
so i cycled about two years ago 500mg test a week split into two 250mg shots
and 40mg dol a day for weeks 1-4
i used the test for 12 weeks
now I am wanting to cycle again and was just browsing through some of the threads that say 12 week cycles arent as useful as 8 week ones
can you guys confirm on this or wat?
