Anyone else anti grips, gloves, straps, brace, etc?

I dunno what it is but I can't stand using and kind of support.
I don't wear gloves because I like my hands rough and I don't like the way they change my grip.
I don't use straps because I feel like it's cheating, if I can't hold onto the bar than I probably shouldn't be lifting it.
I don't wear a back brace because of the same reason, if I can't do it without it than again, I shouldn't be doing it at all.

I use the shit out of some chalk but that's about all.
    Anyone with me?

I use gloves on back night because the calluses really start to hurt and interfere with my workout.

Sometimes I'll wear straps for shrugs.

Never use gloves, but back day straps are a must, I like a double over grip on racks/deads and my grip would never hold without straps.

I can't imagine being anti-gloves lol. I don't wear them for the simple fact that if you forget them (and your hands are not conditioned) your workout sucks. I will use straps but only after I fail without them and I use gloves for maybe one set per day (my heaviest).

Sometimes if I throw additional weight on the squat bar I'll wear a belt. When I dead-lift I also wear straps if going very heavy. Also, I sustained a fracture on my right radius due to a motorcycle accident, so I occasionally wear an elbow brace on that arm alone when doing heavy pulling exercises.

never have used any of em in almost 20yrs. i am thinking of hooks though, as my forearms are giving alot of trouble on back days, and i could be lifting alot heavier.

anyone use hooks rather than straps, and how are they?

    I use gloves and hooks..

When i was younger I thought the same as you, thinking that if i use them in the gym and then attempt the same type of weight in the real world like a frig, tub or anything i'd injure myself.. there is a lot of truth to that type of thinking..

Then I hurt my back and spent 5 yrs rebuilding it...

With that said, i do not wear a lift belt and leg press 1200 lbs for reps 1600 being my biggest..

But i wear hooks to build a bigger back because the grip and wrists can only take so much weight, and I'd prefer to get a bigger stronger back.. after all i'm not in a strong man comp (oh wait they always wrap) I'd prefer endurance and size... strength always comes with time..

Had to go to gloves because every time I'd touch my girl she would complain about the calluses. Doesn't really bother me though. Straps on the other hand are a must on back and and arms day. I like the straps for curls. Concentrates much more on biceps and takes it off your forearms (which I need)

I don't understand you guys, it's like your afraid of accepting the changeover from VHS to CD

If your an intelligent bodybuilder straps and a belt are a must!

A belt used to protect your lumbar spine from damage by causing intra-abdominal pressure only to be used on your heavy sets, don't come back posting here saying in a few years time saying my lower back is killing me because I was to headstrong to use a belt!

Straps allow you to isolate body parts more efficiently FULL STOP

This "if I can't lift it with my grip strength I won't use it" mentality is BULLSHIT
Your are never gonna be able to take more of a pounding in your forearms than your entire back, and if you still think so think again.

And im sure the next thing I will hear is "I don't wear straps cos I want to build size in my forearms"

Use your goddamn straps all the time and train your forearms separately

    Bodybuilding=/=brolifting/powerlifting

    YES MAD!

Straps and a belt for me... I use the straps just for back, and only on the heavier lifts.
