    Post op (torn Labrum)

    Sooo.
I had surgery March 15th of this year and last week my shoulder was feeling great.

So I did some light workouts...that ended up not being so light.

My shoulder has since been somewhat tender, so I laid off everything for a week other than legs and abs.
It seemed to recover so I did arms today and a very light delt work out. It seems very tight now, and its starting to get tender. I will ice it tonight before going to bed and I also get ultrasound at my chiropractors office to help with the inflammation.

Other than sticking to my rehab exercises (lateral rasies, back exercises, dumbbell press and flys, internal/external rotation) what else can I do and how long should I expect to be doing this until I'm back to 100%?

I'm just sick of this and I'm doing my best to be patient. I'd kill just to be able to do light and careful workouts without my shoulder feeling like I abused it.

    Thanks man.

I am being careful, if I had injured it again I would definitely have limited mobility and that isn't hindered at all. It's just sore.

I had my surgery and march and my doc actually released me to workout lightly in like june but I decided to wait as that is what my PT advised.

    Yupp.

Still doing PT, you said your surgery was in January? How are you doing now as far as progression?

Think you are at or close to 100%?

I've also heard a deca and test cycle helps greatly with recovery, although being 19 I've decided not to go down that route.

But eventually, I think I'll give anabolics a shot.

ummmm im about 80% with my strength, still not as strong as i was pre surgery, but the pain is getting better everyweek,it hurts just where he had to cut through mt front delts, back delts and the top of my shoulder, all those muscles will take over a year to heal and thats were all my pain is,i still cant do squats, military presses and i havet to have help doing DB shoulder presses, someone has to hand me the DB's on the injured shoulder,im just gun shy i guess,he told me to give it 4-6 months starting off light and increasing weight based on how i feel, and ive done good so far,im planning my next cycle in sept, that will be 6 months and then i can start lifting heavy again,im a powerlifter/powerbuilder.......it still hurts to do squats,i cant push my arm back far enough without some pain, and im not gonna push it.....my labrum was not torn much,he just put one stitch on it and then tighten it up alot lol...he said he done it like that so i wouldnt reinjure myself again and be back in there in 3-4 years having surgery again.......at the time of surgery,he didnt know my labrum was torn,he found it when he operated,it didnt show up on the MRI...but the bone spurs were giving me hell....and if i hadn them taken out it would have eventually torn my rotator cuff....it was only inflammed thank god!!!!!

Damn your surgery seems like it was a bit more intense than mine. I only have two incisions, one small one on the front delt and another on the rear.

But you seem about on par with what I'm expecting. With my age they gave me about 8-12 months till 100% and I think that sounds about right.
I can't say I still get "pain" from it but rather sometimes it just gets inflamed and tender/stiffens up.

Yeah man, i'm about 5 months out and I still get quite sore after light workouts.
About 3 weeks ago I did a full week of light workouts that could have been much lighter. It was VERY sore after this and I haven't done anything since, my doctor has put my on an anti-inflammatory and it has since gotten much better.

Just take it slow, and work your way back up. It will get better, I learned the hard way having to do nothing for 3 weeks, essentially setting myself back 3 more weeks.
