Was having lunch with a friend I had not seen in some time and who I had helped in starting a basic HRT program. He had gone reservation a bit and was doing 250mg of Test E every 8 days. AI (Arimidex) .25mg every 3 days. I had told him to do about half of the Test or 125mg. Because of this revelation I said he better take a blood test.
His total T was 10.53 ng/ml
Estrogen 16.0 pg/ml
The Total T result makes sense at the amount he's doing, but the E2 level IMO seems really low. He didn't get his Free T checked.
(To contrast I'm doing 150mg Test E every 10 days and .5mg Arimitex every other day and my Total T is 9.8 and my E2 is 18.)
Wondering why his E2 is so low with so much Total Test ???
Just read this at lef:
[Low Free Testosterone, Low Estrogen, High Total Testosterone: This situation suggests excessive SHBG levels, making sufficient testosterone unavailable to target tissues. The elevation of SHBG explains why some older men who are on testosterone repla***ent therapy do not report a long-term beneficial effect, that is, the administered testosterone becomes bound by SHBG and is not bioavailable to cellular receptor sites where it would normally produce an effect. Suggestions include:
Inhibit aromatase by following some of the recommendations in the previous section, since low testosterone and high estrogen are involved in excess SHBG activity.]
Have already instructed my friend to test for Free T and SHBG.
Any other ideas???
