Just received a phone call from my clinic in Florida, DEA came in guns blazing, fortunetly they are on the up and up but was told they are getting cracked down on hard (clinics). Only change they needed to make was to have a face to face with everyone at least once every 2 yrs. I suspect it wont be long before this goes to once a yr. Anyway, was told to order all my gear NOW as no orders will be going out after May 1st without the face to face. Dont know if this is a new law but anybody using a clinic down there might want to stock up now.

I think it's a good thing actually; good and reasonable Medical Practice would tell you that a patient on a combination of controlled substances should see their Doc at least once a year to get a physicial exam at the very least.

i agree with the above tbh, why would anyone who is taking a controlled substance (and a powerful one at that) , not want to see their GP on a regular basis for monitoring to make sure everything is ok , that is of course assuming the patient has a valid medical reason in the first place and not just after a source/supply for other purposes

Do not disagree, the face to face was being done via skype in the past, seeing the actually facility will be a good thing

I also agree... a face to face is good to have with the doc periodically just in case your levels are too high or too low

Getting a physical exam each year should be mandatory, but question begs: from whom? For example, could you just use your GP instead of the clinic/pharmacy doc? Right now the way the rules are generally written (some States have exceptions), the face-to-face has to be with the prescribing doc, who may/may not know squat about medicine rather than your GP who may/may not know squat about TRT.

From where I sit, I cannot think of exactly what your own GP would miss during a good physical and proper BW - especially if you told him that you were on TRT. For that matter, even if you didn't tell him, and did a hormone panel privately, it shouldn't matter all that much.

For TRT I would like to see the rules modified where you have to submit annual exams/BW to your TRT doc, but nothing more.

Not to beat a dead dog or anything, but I have had a total of 3 pyhsical exams, all of them have been an absolute joke! 3rd grade stuff, really. The real meat is in the BW in my opin, proper panels that is. My only disclaimer to the physical exam is I feel (as UNPLEASANT) that a DRE is not a bad thing if you are over 40. The woman nurse declined this on me my last exam which was fine by me! Then again, I do remember a scene from American Pie. LOL

the problem is the cost of traveling, its expensive being on TRT as is! so far my clinic accepts my family doc blood work and physical exams, hopefully that won't change!

Yeah, my GP physical exam: Blood pressure; 100 questions including, "how is the wood?"; nothing else. At least my HRT doc does bloodwork!

If a doc dosen't accept recent bloodwork from a reputable lab, then I question that doc's motives. I know for a fact that docs markup the bloodwork and make money on that too. So maybe they just want to increase their profit at our expense. A friend of mine has some generic labwork done. When she told me how much her doc charged for it I almost died. He charged three times the price privatemdlabs charges for the same labs, and the doc's labwork fee was on top of the office visit fee to review and discuss the results!

Agreed, of course they are making money here, thats why they are always so reluctant when I push them to just send me a work order for qwest so I can funnel it through my insurance. Here's the cynic in me, I wonder if the labs that do the initial blood work for some of these clinics "doctor" the initial numbers to show a lower T level than what it really is?? If the Dr has a "deal" with the coumpound pharmacy and they have their own people (labs) for bloodwork, does seem alful curious to me that no one every gets turned away and they always seem to do the same protocol???
