That is high. I would check your E2 and do what you can to get it down quickly.

Get an aromatase inhibitor and clean up your diet because that is way too high.

I had it checked prior to starting and I was like 168....I am normally on the high end. ER doc that checked it did not seemed to concerned. I know I need to add cardio BACK in and lose 20 lbs.

Probably wasn't a good idea to start a cycle with BP that high. That is asking for trouble. I am surprised any doctor isn't concerned with that number.

I'm the same way, I usually run pretty high bp off cycle, and on my numbers are similar to what you just posted. When I was taking 50mg of Anadrol every day, I checked myself and had somewhere around 180/120. Anyway, I've recently started taking fairly high doses of Hawthrone Berry Extract, of all things, and I'm surprised to see how much it drops my bp within 5 hours. When I'm doing more cardio throughout the week, though, I notice my bp will come down quite a bit as well after a few weeks of that.

ER docs responsibility is to treat emergencies, not give overall health assessments. Do some reading on high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy in steroid users. 171 is too high and dangerous IMO.

Exactly. He sees people with a systolic BP well over 200 everyday...but they're having strokes an MIs. So yeah, he isn't going to flip his shit about your hypertension, but that doesn't mean it isn't going to cause major health problems down the road if you don't get it back to a healthy range.

Holy crap. Any headaches? The highest I've ever seen was 145/80. Usually I linger in the 120/70 range.

Hypertensive migraines won't come on for most until diastolic pressure gets to the 120 mmHg range.
The OP's BP is not that disturbing and is not an emergency, but it is shitty for long-term health.
OP, I'd recommend a beta blocker (since your heart is beating too hard) alongside an AI.
And eliminate any caffeine or other stimulants from your diet.

The OP's case is for sure dangerous if his blood pressure prior to a cycle is 168 over anything.

However in general, this whole blood pressure deal while on cycle is one we may never have a good answer on. Sure high blood pressue, for any reason is bad. However the amount of damage/ and health risks that having blood pressure this high in the average non aas using person, where its caused by restrictiions in the blood flow resulting from long term damage to the cardiovascular system may not be nearly as dangerous as having the same blood pressure readings where its the result of the heart having to pump thickened blood from high RBC counts and any other short term changes that may effect blood flow while on cycle.

Maybe one day there will actually be a study done on AAS induced temporary high blood pressure and how dangerous it is, for now IMHO all we can do is guess and try to control it as best we can.

and most er drs are right out of med school and still wet behind the ears.

I had a bball injury when I was younger and I was told my ankle was sprained but I found out years like it was fractured

My 28 yr old gf was diagnosed with diverticulitis when she was just backed up

    Er Drs usually suck

Its too high. What are you running? Do you use AI? If you run Drol r DBOL you may have your RBC too high and that is pushing BP up.

Thanks Bonaparte...I agree, that long term I need to bring it down. I have no doubt that adding cardio BACK in to my routine will help.

My caffiene intake is low. Maybe a diet soda per day at best. Oh...and pre-workout supps.

The ER doc is a friend and I have no doubt he would have shown some concern if he thought it was an immiediate concern. I am sure it's more of a long time concern.

I have a question about a belief (not necessarily fact) that I have had for a long time: I worry when my BP gets that high because it spikes even higher when I lift. Does lifting become more dangerous when resting BP is high?

Yes. Anything that pushes it too high is dangerous. Your cardiovascular system doesn't know the difference between a systolic of 200 from working out vs doing a line of coke (in the short term).

Bonaparte, this girl I'm seeing, I think has hypertension she went to the doc yesterday and all they said to her is to take iron tablets! When we do cardio, we will be doing a medium paced walk on the treadmill and her HR will be 190's + is there a fix for this? Or anything I can do, I've been pushing her to come to the gym and she is keen but I'm worried about her blood pressure! She has normal dystolic but her sys is through the roof! Anyone offer some help!

Sorry to the op, but didn't want to make my own thread about a similar subject

for those with consistently high pressure, it is a real medical condition. which means, you need to see a real doctor for monitoring and medications. don't rely on too much home-made remedies for too long. go to a doc and get some meds
