    pinning leg

I'm getting ready to pin my quad first time with quad should I stick the pin straight in or at 45 degree angle? ? I'm just tired of hitting the same spots. I'm using 22 gauge 1 inch and half

I use a 1 inch 23 guage and te first time is a little painful because your head gets into it. After that though I think it's one of the easiest places to pin.

^^^^ Exactly where did you go? I'm going to try this tomorrow and I'm pretty nervous about it!! Did you go straight in? I know the whole a hand up from the knee and a hand down from the hip but how far laterally did you go?

that's what i use for my quads,
    and for my glutes, i'm 1.5" x 23

    back to OP's question.

to get to 1" deep, you push it straight in, not at an angle, which would give you a more shallow depth

  11. #11
I pushed it in all the way mid quad very slow

Put the bottom of your hand on your hip, fingers pointing toward the floor. The end of your fingers should be about mid thigh. That's where i inject.

  14. #14
the side huh I never tried that I think ill give that a go next pin day what if you hit your i.t. band

  15. #15

Go a bit anterior to the iliotibial band. But still at the level of the mid thigh.

Visualize between your hip and knee into three quadrants. You should inject in the middle quadrant.

    Hip

    ____

    ... <-----Inject here
    ____

    Knee

For some reason calfs are a different beast. They always get tight and painful to walk. It does however make them feel huge. But painful.

I dont like quads for injection myself. 20+ yrs and I still have trouble shooting there.

  27. #27
so what do you use? especially when you need to rotate injection sites

^^^ And, is it difficult to pin your gluts by yourself? Do you need two hands to aspirate?

if you count each quad as 2 sites, directly on the front (rectus femoris), and to the outside (vastus lateralis), that gives you 4 pin sites on both quads. adding both gluts, and both delts, thats 8 sites. even if you pin daily, you'll only need to pin the same site less than once a wk.

which means, there is really no need for exotic areas like calves or pecs.

  30. #30
ok no calves or pecs.atleast I right say neck lol

  31. #31
I meant "didn't". why do tricep injections give such annoying pain even after injection

  32. #32
i getmore pain from quads then i do delt, bi or tri. bi's are actually painless for me.

was the pain in your quads only for the first few pins on virgin muscles? or did it persist even after repeated use?

  34. #34
    was virgin muscle

but i still get some pain now, but my legs dont relax easy so its just micro trama i think err so yes after repeated cycles quads always feel lik ei have DOMS after an inject about 9 hours after i shoot up for 2-3 days

I go a little above mid quad, a little to the outside. Never had an issue pinning there... Hell, I hardly bleed when I pin there. If I go a little lower I tend to go through veins and it bleeds.

Im using 25gauge 1" to pin and 22 gauge to draw.
